BARBARA JUNE CREECH HOOPER

BARBARA JUNE CREECH HOOPER

APRIL 14, 1945 — MARCH 6, 2026

Barbara June Hooper was born on April 14, 1945, in the Bethel Community of Logansport, Louisiana, to Louis and Rellie Creech. The youngest of four children, she grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, siblings, and grandparents, who lived on the same family land. Being the baby of the family came with all the affection and attention that shaped her gentle, spirited nature. While attending Logansport High School, June never imagined that her heart would one day belong to a boy from across the Sabine River at rival Joaquin High School. She and Jim dated for five years and married on May 1, 1965. Last year, they celebrated sixty years of a life well-lived and well-loved together. When Jim passed away in September, she never recovered from the heartbreak. She had shared that she was ready to be with him and her family, who were in heaven waiting for her.

PATRICIA MEGAN MOREBY ATTAWAY

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Megan Attaway (née Moreby), aged 82. Patricia was known affectionately to many as “Pat” and “Patsy” and as “Nanny” to her grandchildren—true to her English fashion. Patricia was born in Portsmouth, England on April 18, 1943, to Leslie Edward and Ethel “Pat” Moreby. Pat was the eldest daughter of nine siblings, whom she dearly cherished alongside her parents. Pat was a member of the Royal Air Force and was stationed in Germany as a nurse. It was there that she met the love of her life, James “Jim” David Attaway, an Airman in the United States Air Force. Jim always knew how to make her laugh, and they shared nearly 60 years of marriage and three wonderful sons: David, Steven, and Jason. The military took Pat’s family across Europe and America before she eventually settled for many years in Texas to be near her growing family.

RICK EUGENE PHARRIS

RICK EUGENE PHARRIS

JULY 2, 1957 — DECEMBER 18, 2025

Rick Eugene Pharris, age 68, of Mansfield, Louisiana, passed away on December 18, 2025. Born July 2, 1957, Rick lived a life marked by faith, service, strength, and a love that showed up in real ways.

Rick was the kind of man people felt safe around. Strong and fearless, he carried himself with purpose and took the utmost pride in his job and in life in general. He believed in doing things the right way, standing on what you say, and giving your best — because that is the standard he lived by.

Rick was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps and was also known for his time with the Sheriff’s Department. He had a protector’s spirit — steady, loyal, and unshakable. A man of God, Rick believed in putting God first, family second, and everything else last, and he passed those values down through the way he lived.
