6/21/51 11/13/24 Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy Cloud, 73, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana with Bro. John Newman officiating. Interment followed at Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, Louisiana. A visitation was held on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dorothy was born June 21, 1951 to Ruben and Gertrude Melton in Shreveport, Louisiana and entered into rest on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. She lived a quiet simple life. Dorothy worked hard all her life and was able to retire quietly, enjoying her last years with her family and friends. Dorothy was definitely a kind person with a heart of gold, and she loved everyone she knew.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Gertrude Melton; husband, Kenneth Cloud; brother, Ruben Wayne Melton; and her in-laws, Julian and Eva Cloud.

Mary Gene Davis McFadden was born in Haslam, Texas to James Carroll and Florence Lillian Davis. She went to her Heavenly home on October 28, 2024 at the age of 93. Mary began her schooling in Pine Valley, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Joaquin High School, Joaquin, Texas. She married Glen G. McFadden in 1952 and together they celebrated 71 years together before his passing in May of 2024. One of Mary’s proudest accomplishments was obtaining her various nursing degrees. In 1974 Mary graduated from Panola College, Carthage, Texas with her LVN degree. She further continued her nursing education at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and obtained her Intensive Care Nursing Certificate in 1975. Finally, Mary obtained her RN degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana in August 1980. After 18 — years of service she retired from Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rambin, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Officiating the service was Father Mark Franklin.

Alice was born October 2, 1935, in Kinder, Louisiana, to Dan and Lola Guillotte and passed away on October 24, 2024, in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Preceding Alice in death are her parents, Dan and Lola Guillotte; and siblings, Jane Bass, Talma Arbuckle, Lewis Guillotte, Billy Guillotte, and Gene Guillotte.

Lynda Nadine Ferguson Creech Hinson, of Stanley, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by family on October 10, 2024 at her home after many years of battling cancer. Lynda was born on July 6, 1946 to Bennie W. and Nancy Young Ferguson in Logansport, Louisiana. She grew up on the family homestead in Hunter, Louisiana and went to grade school in Stanley, Louisiana. She remained an active member of the Logansport and Stanley communities her whole life and remained lifelong friends with many. After years working as a pharmacy technician, Lynda became a business owner in 1995. She took pride as an co-owner of Mansfield Drug. She valued working with her “drug store family” and in the community.

Lynda was known for her fun and kind nature, her generosity, and her eagerness to bring people together and make everyone laugh. She was the heart of her family and was the link that kept nieces, nephews, and cousins close across generations.

The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Mansfield.

Charles was born on May 26, 1937, in Natchitoches, Louisiana to James Telsa and Eugene Coutee and passed away September 27, 2024, in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Juanita Telsa; parents James and Eugene Telsa; nephew, Eric James Long; and great niece, Telsa Parker.

Gary was born on April 7, 1954, in Port Arthur, TX to Hilburn and Betty Jean McDonald Slaid and passed away September 29, 2024, in Grand Cane, Louisiana. Gary loved pipelining, spending time with family and riding horses across all of his land.

On April 5, 1932, Clarence Arthur Smith, Sr., and Mamie Kidd Smith welcomed their first born Jean. Born in Galveston, Texas and sister to two younger brothers, Clarence Arthur, Jr. and Carl Anthon. Jean often said that she was a tomboy because of her brothers. At an early age Jean recalled that she attended both the Avenue L. Baptist Church with her dad and the Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church with her mom. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the Methodist Church but felt at home at either house of worship.

Billy Joe “BJ” Andrews, 86, of Grand Cane, entered the gates of Heaven on September 14, 2024 surrounded by family. He survived by his loving wife, Betty, whom he fondly called “mama”; daughters, Fredia Andrews, of Lafayette, LA, and Brenda Bison (husband Tommy) of Grand Cane, LA; and son, Bill Andrews (wife Brenda) of Shreveport, LA; sister, Mary Beth Ware of Haynesville, LA; 8 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and a very large host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Lucas and stepfather, C.D. Lucas; biological father, William “Bill” Andrews; and his grandmother, Mary Pratt Lyons, who raised him.

Services were held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial followed at Forest Park West Cemetery. A visitation was held prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating the service was Brother Howard Hall.
