The Many Bass Club’s 2021 June Tournament was held June 5 and 6 on Toledo Bend. The weather was overcast and unseasonably cool with rain and wind. The lake area has experienced higher than normal rainfall and the lake level has been above full pool for nearly two months. The prolonged high water allowed the fish to scatter and they were not easy for the club anglers to catch on this particular weekend.

David Owens won the tournament with an 11.8-pound stringer that also included the Big Fish which weighed 2.9 pounds. David reported that he caught his fish on the north end of the lake fishing shallow with soft plastics. Johnny Flowers finished in second place. His stringer weighed 10.17 pounds and he caught his fish in shallow water in the mid-lake area on soft plastics and top waters. Skip Carlisle placed third with five fish that weighed 10.03 pounds, also using top water lures and soft plastics in the midlake area.

On Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m., the “super heroes” from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff ’s Office and firefighters from DeSoto Fire District 3 took on slightly younger, robust, energetic school kids in a friendly game of kickball at the Stonewall Park. Sponsors for the event were the Stonewall Branch of the DeSoto Parish Library and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff ’s Office. Since the game was played, “just for kicks” no score was kept. Everyone walked away a winner as a good time was held by everyone!
