On a Friday Night in Mansfield, the Mansfield Wolverines fell to the Minden Crimson Tide 28-6, After a scoreless opening quarter, the scoring was started by the Tide with a 9 yard scoring play after multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties gave Minden ideal field position to take a first half lead. Shortly thereafter, Minden capitalized on another special teams blunder that gave Minden 1st and 10 on the 41 yard line. It only took one play for the Tide to score another touchdown on an inside handoff and that took the lead to 14-0.

The Mansfield Wolverine offense led by Junior QB Artravious Woods, took the offense on a 94 yard drive to cut the lead in half 14-6 with a 11 yard touchdown throw and catch to Adrian Green. The Wolverines sideline was finally alive and after a botched onside kick attempt with 40 seconds remaining in the 1st half, the Minden Tide connected on a 2nd down 38 yard touchdown to go into halftime 21-6.

North DeSoto won their first game of the season on the road against Natchitoches Central in week one. Now it was time for the home opener against a tough Parkway team. This would be a good test for the young Griffin team in a non-district game.

1st Quarter

Parkway received the ball; the Griffin defense came out strong and forced a three and out. North DeSoto’s offense also went three and out and punted as well. Alex Roberts, Kelvin Fields, and Chris Norris got some key stops to force another three and out for Parkway. North DeSoto got some yardage on a run from Mike Lias, but they still had to punt. Parkway was putting together a nice long drive before they mishandled the ball and Alex Roberts intercepted it for the Griffins. Kelvin Kinney was able to break a tackle and power forward for a first down. The first quarter ended scoreless with the Griffins trying to find some offense.

On Friday Night at Washington-Taylor-Rogers Stadium the Mansfield Wolverines put together a total team effort with a 20-6 victory over the visiting Homer Pelicans.

From the opening drive, the Wolverines offense marched down the field with the ground game behind Quarterback Dyllan Robinson. The Wolverines punched in the opening touchdown and that jumpstarted the night.

The Homer Pelicans looked to hang its hat on their doeverything Star Thomas, and early on he looked to be problem for the Wolverines defense. The Wolverines stepped up their efforts on Friday night as they held the Pelicans to a total of 144 yards of total offense and forced 6 turnovers.
