After getting their first real win of the season, the Griffins were excited to be back at home and build on their momentum and to finally have their homecoming game after their original one was a forfeit win.

The Griffins received the ball and Jorden Welch had a 40 kick return to start them with good field position. This drive was a heavy run drive, mainly all from Gator Hampton, who eventually made it in the endzone. Griffins took an early lead 7-0 with 10:12 left. BT McMillan attempted an onside kick. It was recovered by Paul Boonram which gave the ball right back to the Griffins. It looked like they were driving down the field, until David Atkins fumbled and the Lions jumped on it. It was a quick outing with a three and out for the Griffin defense. The first quarter ended with the Griffin offense driving.

The Many Bass Club held its October 2021 Tournament the weekend of October 9th on Toledo Bend. The anglers had the option to fish Saturday or Sunday. The fall fishing was tough with bites few and far between. The weather was unseasonably warm and dry for the entire weekend with high temperatures still touching the upper eighties, with water temperatures in the mid-seventies, and sunny skies prevailing. Sunday was quite breezy making it difficult to fish on the open lake. The Lake level was stable at four feet below full pool, and the bass were still reluctant to abandon their summer haunts, but the top two stringers did come from shallow water. Thirteen anglers participated in the tournament, and only four of them weighed in five fish stringers.

NDHS Falls Just Short of a Come From Behind Win Over Sterlington

NDHS Falls Just Short of a Come From Behind Win Over Sterlington

It’s been a rough start for the Griffins to begin the season. With some bad losses the first three weeks, they’re still believing that scheduling big early will pay off. The schedule didn’t get any easier this week as Sterlington came to town.

Griffins kicked off to begin the game. Sterlington came out fast and scored quickly with a few runs before a big pass to the endzone. The Panthers took an early lead 7-0 with 10:31 left. Much like the first three weeks of the season, the Griffin offense struggled to get going early, as they went three and out on their first drive. Sterlington came out moving the ball well again on their next drive, but the Griffin defense was able to hold them to just a field goal. The score was 10-0 with 3:24 left.

David Atkins got the offense going with a couple big runs, but then they stalled and had to punt to end the first quarter.
