North DeSoto suffers second loss of the season in a controversial game

The season is coming closer to an end and North DeSoto is still focused on making a run to the Dome for the state title. This week they took on rivals Benton. This game is always high emotion and a nail biter to the very end. This game was no different.

Quarter 1

Benton received the ball to start. The Griffin defense came out strong and was able to force an early punt. The Griffin offense controlled the ball possession in the first quarter with runs from Aubrey Scott, Rykendrick Simpson, Tyler Erario, and Jaden Procell. However, they did punt, but it was downed at three yard line. The Griffin defense still looked strong on this drive. Benton punted it away after having a touchdown called back. The first quarter would end scoreless.

No Place Like HOME-coming, 21-0

It was homecoming in Stonewall. Everyone always looks forward to this game every year and all of the festivities that come with it. The Griffin football team was focused on two things this week. That was bouncing back from their first loss of season last week and avenging their loss to Woodlawn from last season. No matter what, everyone knows the Homecoming game is always going to be a good one.

The Griffins received the kickoff to start the game. The first quarter was mainly a defensive battle. Both teams found small bursts of offense, but neither team could capitalize as they would go into the second quarter scoreless.
