James Ray Adams, 71, of Longview, Texas passed away on July 7, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born June 10, 1954, in Mansfield, Louisiana to Hattie Nelwyn “Nel” and James Rayburn “Ray” Adams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nel and Ray Adams; brother, Buba Adams; and sister- in-law, Darlene Adams.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie Adams; daughter, Amanda Nash and husband, James; son, James Ray Adams, Jr. and wife Danielle; and daughters, Stacy Araune, and Sara Wood; grandchildren, Kara Hooper, Allison Rains, Samuel Adams, Justin Nash, Jake Araune, Julia Adams; and great grandchild, Hayes Sojka; nephew William Adams and wife Emily.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in James’s honor to Beulah Baptist Church, 3417 Hwy 481, Mansfield, Louisiana 71052.

Frankie Hughes Lollar, 84, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025. Born on November 8, 1940, and raised in Mansfield, LA, Frank lived a full and fearless life — one marked by laughter, generosity, and a love for both people and adventure. A natural storyteller with a sharp wit and a twinkle in his eye, Frank made friends everywhere he went. His kind and giving heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Whether he was cracking a well-timed joke or showing up with a helping hand, he made life brighter for the people around him. Frank served in the U.S. Army, where he literally jumped into life — parachuting out of planes and leaning into every adrenaline rush he could find. That bold spirit followed him throughout his years. He loved water skiing, kayaking, and anything that gave him a thrill. He lived with intention — never afraid to take a leap, whether off a dock or into a new opportunity.

A Celebration of Life service honoring Raymond Edward Powell was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Mansfield, Louisiana, with Dr. Chad Hardbarger officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Honoring Raymond as pallbearers were Timothy Lawson, Ben McGehee, Greg McGehee, Jeff McGehee, Patrick Hannon, Bennett Lawson, and Lang Lawson. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Deacons of FBC Mansfield and members of The Coffee Group. Rev Ben McGehee officiated at a graveside service at the Deadwood Methodist Cemetery in Deadwood Texas. A military honor guard detail performed a ceremony to honor Raymond Powell’s service as a WWII veteran.

Raymond Powell was born on November 5, 1924, in Deadwood, Texas, to Nelson Truitt and Lizzie Alexander Powell, and was raised in Logansport, Louisiana.

Michael “Mike” Troy McDonald, age 62, of Mansfield, Louisiana passed away on June 28, 2025. He was born on October 27, 1962 in Mansfield to the late Morris Troy McDonald and Gloria Patricia Booker McDonald. A visitation began at 10:00 a.m. with a celebration of life service following at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St. Mansfield, LA 71052. Officiating was Pastor DJ Thomas. Burial followed at 2:00 p.m. located at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, LA 71111. Mike graduated from Converse High School in May 1980. He was a loving and loyal son, brother, and friend. He was best known for his giving spirit and ability to make you laugh. There was a determined spirit about him. As it became apparent that this disease was terminal he said, “I’m gonna go down fighting” and he did!

Robert L. “Bobby” Garrett, 89, of Logansport, Louisiana, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at his residence. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Logansport, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Eric L. Garrett and Bro. Shawn Thrapp will officiate. Interment l followed at O.E. Price Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana. Born November 30, 1935, in Kilgore, Texas, Bobby is the son of Robert Levi Garrett and Edna Daughtry Garrett. He served in the United States Army. Bobby was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Logansport, Louisiana, where he served as a deacon.

A Celebration of Life honoring Lois Elaine Murphy Posey Scruggs, 87, was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana, with Rev. Linnie Lindsay and Bro. Tommy Mc-Mellon officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Honoring Elaine as pallbearers were Joshua Young, John-William Vercher, Levi Young, James Posey, Greg Posey, and Shane Murphy.

Elaine was born on December 3, 1937, in Houston, Texas to Aubrey Murphy and Lucille Murphy. She passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ted W. Posey and her second husband Wyatt Scruggs; her brother-in-law, Bo Posey; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Posey, and Kay Murphy; niece, Tiffany Murphy and nephew, William Bryan Murphy.

The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana. Doris was born on August 10, 1930, in Vowell Mills, Louisiana to Thomas Jesse Byrd and Bertha Byrd and passed away June 18, 2025, in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bertha Byrd; husband, A.W. Bynog, Jr.; and daughter, Sharon Solley.

William Henry “Bill” Morton March 1, 1944 – May 29, 2025

This is where the Cowboy Rides Away William Henry “Bill” Morton passed away on May 29, 2025 in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Bill, also known as Dad, Diddums and most importantly, Biggie, was born March 1, 1944 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Madge Worsham Morton and James Millard Morton. Bill grew up in the Lula community attended Stanley High School where he began at an early age cultivating his love of the cattle industry. After high school, Bill attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he lived in the new agriculture dorm under the stadium seats of his beloved Tiger Stadium. After his time at LSU, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. Bill was stationed in Europe and loved to tell stories of his time in the Air Force, much to his daughters’ dismay.
