9/03/40 1/30/25 On January 30, 2025, Floyd Earl Nesom entered into heavenly rest in Mansfield, LA. Earl was born on September 3, 1940, to parents RT Nesom and Verna Ruth Dyes Nesom in Belmont, LA. He was the middle of three children, and their only son. Earl was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. His greatest loves were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to tell you all about them. Earl spent over 45 years devoted to working in the oilfield, traveling around the world. He was also a Master Mason and Deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church, often spending his own time and using his own equipment to maintain the grounds of both the lodge and church, and anywhere else that needed it.

10/16/49 1/19/25 Preston Elmer Dixon Jr of Ellis, Idaho, born on October 16, 1949, in Mansfield, Louisiana to Preston Dixon Jr and Mary Lilene Ricks- Dixon, passed away peacefully January 19th, 2025. Preston graduated from Mansfield High School and attended Northwestern University and Colorado State University. He worked summers on hay crews in Nebraska, which is where he discovered his passion for ranching. He graduated CSU and, after working on ranches in several states, moved to Idaho, where the Pahsimeroi Valley would become his lifelong home. He made his passion for ranching into his career, purchasing and running the Keppner Ranch for many years with his ex-wife Nadine. He loved his horses, cows, dogs, and everything to do with ranching, often building his own tools from scrap rather than purchasing new ones and keeping workhorse tractors running far past their expiration dates.

5/07/66 1/11/25 A Celebration of Life for Marion Daryl “Daron” Webb, Jr., 58, of Noble, LA, was held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Methodist Church of Zwolle. Services began at 10:00 AM with Minister Sharon Stewart officiating. Lunch was provided for family and friends. Following the meal, there was a graveside service. Marion Daryl Webb, Jr. — “Daron,” or lovingly known as “D” to all who knew him — went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous health battle. Daron was born on May 7, 1966, to Marion Daryl Webb, Sr., and Candis Crutchfield Webb. Daron started his career as a lineman at just 18 years old. At the end of his career, Daron had served over 40 years as a lineman with Cleco and Red Simpson. He worked for Cleco for 22 years and 6 months and met some of his closest friends.

7/30/53 12/31/24 James Earl (Jim) Radford, 71, lovingly known as “Slim,” was born in Mansfield, Louisiana, on July 30, 1953, and passed away in Shreveport, on December 31, after a lengthy illness. Slim was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and a die-hard LSU fan, bleeding purple and gold every Saturday during football season. Slim grew up attending Mansfield’s First Baptist Church and made sure that his mother made it to choir practice and Sunday services in her later years. Known as the family’s GOAT, Slim lettered in three sports at Mansfield High School: football, basketball, and track. In 1970, Slim was the starting quarterback in his senior year at MHS. With his strong quarterbacking arm, he threw the javelin as a member of the MHS track team and also was a high hurdler. In the spring of 1971, Slim helped the MHS track team win its first state championship of the five the Wolverines would subsequently win.

A memorial service with honors was held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation was held Monday, December 16, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath. Inurnment was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service was Reverend McKee Williams.

2/02/35 12/0924 Bearl “Red” Jones Lafitte, 89, of Mansfield, Louisiana passed away December 9, 2024. He was born on February 2, 1935 in Pelican, Louisiana to the late Burl Aulton Lafitte and Francis Semmes Young.

A visitation was held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St. Mansfield, LA 71052. A funeral mass honoring the life of Red was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rambin, Louisiana. Officiating the service was Fr. Tim Hurd. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Janet Tumbleson Pharris, age 61, on Saturday, December 7th, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law and friend. The funeral services, Brandon and Andrea Burnett officiating, will be held on Thursday, December 12th at 10:00 a.m. at RoseNeath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be held the following week at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans cemetery under the direction of Mike Armstrng.

Janet was born on December 24th, 1962, to William and Jane Tumbleson in Brooklyn, New York.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents William and Jane; three brothers, Robert, Jimmy and Richie Tumbleson.

Bobbie Burt Jackson, 83, of Mansfield, Louisiana passed away on November 26, 2024. She was born April 6, 1941, in Naborton, Louisiana to Oscar Lee and Mable DeValtz Burt.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Bobbie was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2024 located at Pelican Cemetery, Commerce St, Pelican, LA 71063. Officiating the service was Rev. Amador Santos.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry “Jimmy” Jackson; parents; brothers, Floyd, James, Ray, William, and Roy; and sisters, Margie and Marie.
