WAYNE DELEE REGISTER

MARCH 5, 1935 — MARCH 25, 2026
Wayne DeLee Register, 91, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on March 25, 2026. Born March 5, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was raised in the Bethel Community near Logansport, Louisiana, the son of R.D. “Bud” Register and Mary Roberts Register.
Wayne grew up on a small dairy farm, one of eleven children, during years that demanded hard work and resilience from rural Louisiana families. His path to an LSU degree was anything but straight — interrupted twice by family obligation and circumstance — but he persevered, earning his diploma in 1970 while married and raising a family in northern Louisiana. He wore that Tiger pride for the rest of his life, and earned every bit of it.
Wayne spent his career in the propane industry, beginning in sales and branch management in Monroe, Louisiana with Amoco. In 1974 he relocated to the regional office in Atlanta, but soon found his way back to the work he loved — serving customers directly. He eventually landed at Georgia Gas Distributors where he built relationships that lasted decades. He was active in his industry, serving as an officer of the Georgia Propane Gas Association.
Wayne was a man of simple and lasting pleasures — tending his vegetable garden, playing golf, and reading. For most of his life he grew tomatoes, beans, squash, and the full range of southern garden staples, a tradition rooted in his Louisiana upbringing.
He served his country in the United States Army Reserve as a Staff Sergeant in the XIX Corps.
Those who knew Wayne described him as kind, loyal, and even-keeled — a man slow to anger and quick to help. He was a faithful member of North Point Baptist Church in Carrollton.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Delores Burns Register; his sons Michael (Patti) and Patrick (Michelle); his grandchildren Leah and Collin; and his siblings Alice Edmiston, Gerald Register, and Ronald Register. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Dempsey, Bob, Gene, and Wally Register, and Winnie Bryan, Betty Price, and Florence Goslin.
A visitation was held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at noon at Almon Funeral Home, Carrollton, Georgia. Interment followed at Shiloh Methodist Cemetery, Carrollton, Georgia.
