Brad Shahan from Deadwood was the high point shooter in the San Augustine Lions Clubʼs sporting clay shoot. Over 80 shooters participated in the shoot held at Fairway Farm in San Augustine on Feb 27th.
On March 1, names were drawn in the gun raffle that was held as a fundraiser of the Logansport High School Baseball Booster’s Club. Three hundred tickets were sold at $100.00 a piece. The following are the winners, whose names were drawn to coincide with the firearm that they won. Included are David Jones-Taurus 1911; Bob Palmer- Smith & Wesson M&P22.
The Logansport FFA spent National FFA Week decorating the halls of the school, running the morning assemblies, encouraging the underclassmen to join Ag,, hosting a career day, and getting a special visit from Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley in his very own FFA uniform.

The Logansport High School Softball Team will hold a crawfish fundraiser on Saturday, March 5 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at The Crawfish Shack, located at 302 N. Elm in Logansport. Crawfish plates will include 3 pounds of crawfish, 2 potatoes and 1 corn for $17.99. Proceeds from the crawfish dinner sales will be donated to the LHS Softball Booster Club.
Mansfield High School’s baseball and softball teams will be hosting their Annual Spring Tournament March 3-5, 2016. Games will be held on Thursday and Friday beginning at 4:00 PM and on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM.
Chase Bates of North Desoto High School placed second at the State Wrestling Championship held at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City. Chase wrestled in Division II.
The North DeSoto High School Wrestling team recently participated in the Regional Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 30 with individual wins and the Griffin team placing second overall.
What intrigues me most as to the relevance of college basketball in today’s sports minded society would the arena it provides for the young yet to be great stars of tomorrow. An arena not so readily available to the unknown in the past yet on this page everyone gets their moment. And it is that very moment that defines greatness or at least a propensity to achieve a great bit of success.
