The Central Pioneers opened district play with a 43-34 victory over the Tensas Academy Chiefs in St. Joseph on Friday night. Leading the Pioneers was point guard Macon Murphy with 20 points and 4 steals, post player Adrian Trevizo with 9 points and 5 rebounds and forward Chase Collier with 4 points and 4 rebounds.
The Louisiana Sports Writers Association recently released the Class 4A All-State team, capping a whirlwind season of action on the gridiron. Among those named was Minden High School Crimson Tide head coach and Mansfield High School graduate, Spencer Heard, who was chosen as the 4A State Coach of the Year by LSWA.
