Thanks for another successful Field City Classic. A special thanks to all the teams that participated in the classic, to the community for coming out support the 4th Annual Field City Classic, and Mansfield High School. The tournament is held annually to support Mansfield High School boys and girls basketball programs.

Mansfield Students Qualify for Junior Games in Jacksonville, Florida

Seven local athletes have made their way to the USA Junior Games (formerly known as Junior Olympics) in the track and field competitions in Jacksonville, Florida. They include Zakhia Austin, Trinity Ford, LaStarsha Green, Arionna Garner, DaeShawna Clay, Antoine Shannon and Antonio Shannon. One of the coaches of the talented athletes is also from Mansfield, Coach Mycal Word. The seven young athletes, all products of Mansfield schools, have held their own and qualified for the 2015 USA Track and Field competition. They are representing River Cities Track Club out of Bossier City, with the games beginning on July 27 and running through August 2.

DeSoto 4-H Members Place in National Shooting Sports Championship

DeSoto Parish 4-H was recently represented on the National Stage by Travis Walker, 18, of Mansfield. Travis was a member of the Louisiana Blackpowder team that competed at the 4-H National Shooting Sports Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska at the end of June.

Hoopaholics Capture National Title Winning the Eluded Gold

The North Louisiana Hoopaholics have finally captured the gold medal they’ve been seekingat the National Senior Games.  The team has come close, winning the Silver Medal in recent competition,but after several trips to National sand moving into another age bracket, the Hoopaholics have won the prize that they have worked so hard to achieve.

The Mansfield Adult Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 3, at the DeSoto Regional Health Center conference room. Any person interested in sharing Christ through sports on the middle school, high school and college level is invited to attend.

The DeSoto LSU Alumni Association 14th Annual Golf Classic weekend is planned for July 10, 11, and 12th at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort. The resort is currently taking room reservations at 877-519-1500 according to Chapter President John Russell.

Here it is (80) some odd days until the onset of college football in the year of 2015 and the Associated Press no less would find within itself the need to project the possible or probable scenarios come time for the bowl games. With social media and its influence being at an all time high several of the AP’s predictions have wrought responses fitting the most heated debates ever seen by mankind.

14th Annual DeSoto LSU Alumni Association’s Dr. Don Taylor Golf Classic Seeks Teams

The DeSoto LSU Alumni Association 14th Annual Golf Classic weekend is planned for July 10, 11, and 12th at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort. The resort is currently taking room reservations at 877- 519-1500 according to Chapter President John Russell. Currently, the four man teams are still being accepted to participate in the gold tournament. Sponsors and golf teams are currently being signed up for this event, which has become the best golf tourney in the LSU Alumni system. The tournament is a 4-person scramble with tee times 8:00 Saturday morning, 1 pm Saturday afternoon and anytime on Friday, July 10th.
