Here it is (80) some odd days until the onset of college football in the year of 2015 and the Associated Press no less would find within itself the need to project the possible or probable scenarios come time for the bowl games. With social media and its influence being at an all time high several of the AP’s predictions have wrought responses fitting the most heated debates ever seen by mankind.

14th Annual DeSoto LSU Alumni Association’s Dr. Don Taylor Golf Classic Seeks Teams

The DeSoto LSU Alumni Association 14th Annual Golf Classic weekend is planned for July 10, 11, and 12th at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort. The resort is currently taking room reservations at 877- 519-1500 according to Chapter President John Russell. Currently, the four man teams are still being accepted to participate in the gold tournament. Sponsors and golf teams are currently being signed up for this event, which has become the best golf tourney in the LSU Alumni system. The tournament is a 4-person scramble with tee times 8:00 Saturday morning, 1 pm Saturday afternoon and anytime on Friday, July 10th.

NDHS Fishing Team Place inTournaments; Members Head to TBFWorld Finals and Bass Master Finals

The NDHS Fishing team hosted their 2nd Annual tournament Saturday May 9th in conjunction with the annual Despino Tire/Jim South tournament. Peyton Burfordand Zach Anderson took home 1stprize with a five fish limit.Christian Mathews and Cole Wardwere a close 2nd with a five fishlimit as well.

NSU Pool Open with Activities Available for Public

The Northwestern State University pool at the Recreation Complex is now open and several aquatics activities are available for the public. Regular hours of operation are 1- 6 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday with extended hours to 7 p.m. in late May and early June. A Record 81 Toledo Bend Lunker Bass Replicas Awarded By TBLA

The Toledo Bend Lake Association awarded 81 lunker bass replicas to anglers at the Toledo Bend Sealy Outdoors Big Bass Splash at Cypress Bend Park on Sunday May 17, 2015. This is the third year in a row that the Toledo Bend Lunker Bass Program has yielded a record number of lunkers (58 in 2013 and 61 in 2014). The 10-lb. or larger bass were caught on Toledo Bend Lake from May 19, 2014, to May 15, 2015.

DPPJ Honors State Champion Lady Griffins; Call for Public Hearing on Minors in Possession Law

At the regular meeting of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury, the North DeSoto High School Lady Griffins and their coaching staff were recognized for winning the 2015 State 3A Softball Championship. They were presented a plaque as jurors extended their congratulations for this achievement.
