Logansport Advances to Quarterfinals with 49-0

The Logansport Tigers earned their second consecutive trip to the Quarterfinals of the Class A playoffs this past Friday night with a 49-0 shutout of the Lincoln Prep Panthers, It was the fourth consecutive shutout for the Tigers who have not allowed any points for 16 straight quarters. With the win the Tigers advance to face the Varnado Wildcats. The game will this Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Against the Panthers, the Tigers only allowed the opponent in scoring position one time on the night. On that drive Tiger, Torel Norris knocked down a fourth down pass to keep the scoreless streak going.

Seniors Lead North DeSoto to Victory!

The 2016 North DeSoto Griffin seniors entered a game with something on the line that they had never faced in their football careers. Win and play another game, lose and for most them, their football careers will come to an end. Maybe they realized what happens after a loss or maybe that feeling will not be felt. Regardless, this team of seniors competed with fire that was unmatched this past Friday night. Led by senior Delmonte Hall, who alternated between running back and the wild cat/QB position, the Griffins ran past the Gators of Lagrange High School 35-29. The Griffins turned the ball over on their 3rd play of the game giving the ball to the Gator offense.

Mansfield Wolverines Season Comes to an End with 55-20 Loss to Northwest

This past Friday, Coach Mike Green and the Mansfield Wolverines (4-6, 0-1) football team traveled to Opelousas to face the undefeated Northwest Pirates Flyers (10-0, 1-0). The Wolverines storybook season would unfortunately come to an end with a 55-20 loss to the Pirates. The Wolverines fought hard, but penalties, injuries and some untimely dropped passes would not allow the Wolverines to come up with victory. The Pirates were led by a rushing attack that totaled 214 yards and 5 touchdowns. Running back Matthew Rideau accumulated 113 yards, 3 touchdowns on 21 attempts. Pirate quarterback Terrel Guillory finished the game with 9-13 passing with 152 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Tigers Close Out Regular Season Undefeated

The Logansport Tiger hosted the Montgomery Tigers this past Thursday night to close out the regular season. Montgomery came into the game on a 3 game winning streak. The Tigers earned their 3rd straight shutout with a 41-0 win. Logansport is now 10-0 on the season and 5-0 in District 3-1A competition. The Tigers outscored the District opponents by a margin of 219-8. Logansport earned the number 2 seed in the Class A playoffs. With the seeding, Logansport earned a 1st round bye. In the 2nd round, Logansport will host the winner of the game between Lincoln Prep and Basile.

Undefeated Loyola Falls to Mansfield Wolverines

This past Friday, Coach Mike Green and the Mansfield Wolverines (4-6) football teamtraveled to Shreveport to face the  previously undefeated LoyolaCollege Prep Flyers (9-1). As the  Wolverines left the visiting locker room headed to field, Coach Green encouraged his players with one last statement, "You woke up this morning, you're here, you might as well grind." And grind they did, defeating the Flyers 42-35 in game that was full of hard hits and spectacular plays.
