This past Friday, Coach Mike Green and the Mansfield Wolverines traveled to Shreveport to face the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers for the District 1-2A showdown. Both teams came into Friday’s game 2-0 in District play and tied for first place. The Wolverine truck has been rolling to the tune of a five game winning streak. After a slow start, the Cavaliers has put together a three game winning streak of their own. The winner of this game would guarantee themselves at least a share of the District 1-2A championship. Before Mansfield took the field, Coach Green reminded his team that if they were going to beat a team of Calvary’s caliber they would have to give a 100% effort on every play and be physical at all times. The game would be full of hard hits and spectacular plays but unfortunately the Mansfield (6-3, 2-1) winning streak would come to an end with a 34-47 loss to Calvary (5-4, 3-0). The Wolverines fought hard, but turnovers, some untimely penalties, and several missed calls would prevent the Wolverines from coming up with victory.
