Grand Cane’s Annual Pioneer Christmas Parade Set to Roll December 5

The Village of Grand Cane will hold their annual Christmas parade and festival on Saturday, December 5 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with vendors ready to tempt you with food items, arts and crafts as well as the Village’s restaurants open and ready to serve you their specialties. The parade is scheduled at 11:00 AM and will run through the downtown area.

Stonewall to Celebrate with Inaugural Christmas Parade This Saturday

Christmas is fast approaching, friends and neighbors! We are so excited about our inaugural Christmas parade in Stonewall, with plans to make it an annual event. Our committee is planning a wonderful parade this Saturday, December 5th, for our community. We are going to pull out all the stops and make this first parade something wonderful for our families.

Stonewall Beverage Company Closes Its Doors

With both the DeSoto Parish Police Jury and Stonewall Town Council canvassing the votes cast in the October 24 election, it was recently confirmed on November 12 that that the five propositions regarding the sale of alcoholic were all defeated.

Election and Play-off Stories to Run in the December 3 Edition

Due to The Enterprise having to meet an early deadline schedule because of the Thanksgiving holiday, election coverage as well as local football playoff games for Logansport High School and North DeSoto High School is not included in this edition.

Town of Logansport to Hold Public Hearings on December 8

Before the regular meeting of Logansport’s Town Council, the proposed budget for 2016 will be up for discussion at 5:30 PM. Immediately following the public hearing, the regular council meeting will begin at 6:00 PM for the formal adoption, with any final revisions. A copy of the proposed budget is available for public review at Town Hall during regular office hours.

DeSoto Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Magnolia Mercantile

The DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for Stonewall’s newest business, Magnolia Mercantile. With a vision of how old time mercantile operated and some of the stock that they carried, new proprietor Terrie Baker has big plans on the future of her new establishment.

“Under the Tree 2015” Continues with Dropoff Stations and Sponsors Increasing Daily

With the “Under the Tree 2015” program now in full swing, workers know that founder Dianne Boyt and Santa himself are smiling at all the goodwill being shown in making this Christmas a happy one for area children and families that need a helping hand. This is the second year of Under the Tree, which consists of a group of DeSoto parish residents who are dedicated to making sure that every child receives a gift for Christmas. Under the Tree is a non-profit organization that was started last year by life long DeSoto parish resident Dianne Boyt.

Voters and Candidates Ready Themselves for November 21

Early voting has ended and registered voters that did not exercise that option must go to the polls between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM on November 21st to select the candidate of their choice. Also on the ballot for much of DeSoto Parish is a millage renewal for Waterworks District 1 for continued operations and maintenance for the parish-wide water system. Waterworks 1 has grown to be the service provider for over 2,100 customers, with more growth expected each year.

DPSB Transfers Pelican Campus to Community Non-Profit

The DeSoto Parish School Board has approved a cooperative endeavor agreement to transfer management of the campus of the former Pelican All Saints High School. With a unanimous vote, the property has been transferred to WEBCORPS, a local non-profit organization representing the communities of Wallace, Evelyn, Benson, Catuna, Oxford, Rambin, Pelican, and Springhill. The doors of Pelican school officially closed in May of 2013 and since that time has been unused.

DeSoto Chamber Welcomes Stonewall’s Newest Business

The DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Grand Opening of Graceland of Stonewall. The business sells quality made portable buildings, and is located at 1027 Hwy 171. The buildings are crafted just minutes away in Shreveport and have many superior features to sustain high winds and weather.
