Krewe of Demeter Plans Continue for Inaugural Mardi Gras Parade in Mansfield

With the successful Grand Bal now in the history books, other Krewe events must be planned out and Krewe of Demeter Captain Danny Procell has issued an invitation to all civic groups, clubs, school groups and individuals to join in the first Mardi Gras parade to ever roll down the streets of Mansfield on Saturday, January 23 at 1:00 PM. For the ultimate enjoyment of the parade spectators, the route is still being perfected by Mansfield City Hall and the Krewe’s Parade Committee, and will be announced very soon.

Cloyce Clark Takes Oath as DeSoto Deputy District Attorney

With District Attorney Gary V. Evans looking on, Cloyce Clark was sworn-in as DeSoto Parish’s newest Deputy District Attorney. The brief ceremony was performed by Clerk of Court Jeremy Evans on Monday, January 4. Clark, who previously served as an assistant district attorney for the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s office, resigned that position last month and is ready to take on the responsibilities of his new DeSoto Parish office.

Plans continue for Mardi Gras festivities with the 2016 Krewe of Aquarius busy working behind the scenes to make this year’s event the biggest and best celebration ever. The theme has been selected to pay homage to our military as well as first responders…or anyone that is considered a hero. “Aquarius Salutes the Heroes”, is what participants should be giving thought to on who or what they want their float or marching unit to portray.

After Hours to Entertain at Krewe of Demeter’s First Mardi Gras Bal

The time is almost here for the Krewe of Demeter’s first Mardi Gras Bal that will be held on January 9 at the Clista A. Calhoun Center. This year’s theme that was selected is “A Night with the Stars,” and a limited amount of tickets remain on a first come-first serve basis for a few lucky people to grab seats to the first event of its kind in Mansfield.

Town of Logansport to Move Council Meeting and Hold Second Annexation Proposal Meeting January 12

Banks of the Sabine River Overflow in Logansport One Last Time in 2015

The Hwy 84 Bridge linking Logansport and Joaquin has seen the Sabine River rise out of its banks a few times in 2015. This Christmas day photo shows the riverfront road underwater, with the water continuing to rise.
