NSU’s Zeek Woodley of Pelican Advances to Quarter Finals of DarkHorseDunker.com Contest

While he’s getting back in action late in his senior season after missing two months with a broken wrist, Northwestern State basketball star Zeek Woodley from Pelican All-Saints High School is also on the move online. Woodley, who broke his right (shooting) wrist Dec. 19, has advanced to Round 2 in fan voting in the Dark Horse Dunker contest. He is one of eight remaining contenders for a spot in the 2017 State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship March 30 at the NCAA Final Four in Phoenix. Sixteen seniors from throughout college basketball were selected for the Dark Horse Dunker competition and paired in a bracket-style, online voting competition which began Feb. 14.

Logansport Tiger Football Team Honored with Steak Dinner

On February 8, Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle, Assessor Anne Gannon, the Desoto Police Jury, Steve Lynch, Frank Leone, Clerk of Court Jeremy Evans, DPSB Member Dudley Glenn, Judge Amy Burford McCartney, State Farm Agent Julie Henderson and Harvey Burford provided steak dinners for the LHS Football Team, Cheerleaders and Coaches. The event was held at the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Department’s Training Facility in Grand Cane.

DeSoto Athletics Sign-Ups Continue; Coaches Meeting Set for February 20

The Board of Commissioners of DeSoto Athletics began live signups on February 4, at various locations across the Parish Saturday, February 4. This year’s President is Mike Campbell and Chris Thomas will serve as Vice President. Two more sign ups are slated on February 18 and March 4, and will be held from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The following is a list of sign up locations:

LHS Football Team Seeks Sponsors for Championship Rings

Dear Editor and Logansport Tiger Fans and Supporters, The Logansport High School Tigers recently completed a PERFECT football season by winning the LHSAA Class A State Championship with a record of 14 wins and 0 losses. Throughout the season the Tigers scored 571 points and gained 5392 yards while only allowing 147 points and recording 5 shutouts.
