Her love ofknowledge kept her continuing her education at Draughn School ofBusiness, Louisiana State University, Northwestern State University andPanola College, history was her favorite course of study. She was an avidreader for the sake of learning from it. She served many years with theDepartment of Defense at Barksdale Air Force Base and then inWashington D.C. for the Navel Department of Defense.

Edward Russell Vest, born May 9, 1956, passed away April 25, 2015. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday May 8, 2015 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana with Rev. Amador Santos officiating. Interment followed at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Pallbearers were Military Honors. Mr. Vest is survived by his wife Margie W. Vest of DeRidder, Louisiana; one son, Steven Lee Vest of DeRidder, Louisiana; two daughters: Christine Vest of Virginia and Nicole Vest of Germany; one brother, Donald Cherico of Waynesville, Missouri; one sister, Kathy Lessard and husband Mario of Waynesville, Missouri; extended family: Lillie Beth Horton, Bennie Gibson and Lonnie Jackson, Frank Gibson, Huey Horton and Sandra Melton, Prentice and Judy Horton, Sherry Algiere, Dell and Tom Gribble; lifelong friends: Theo Decker, Gaynell May, and Charlie Smith; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Edythe Leigh Ratcliff Davidson (Edie Wee) age 59, of Logansport, LA, passed away May 3, 2015 in Bossier City, LA following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on June 20, 2015 at Mims Springs Baptist Church, 1227 HWY 764, Logansport LA. Edie Wee was born in Mansfield LA, on October 24, 1955, to Thomas W. and Aileen Pyle Ratcliff. She was a member of Mims Springs Baptist Church. She recently moved home to Logansport after residing in Missouri several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronnie Ratcliff. Left to cherish her memory is her son Chad Ratcliff and wife Tina of EI Paso, AR, sisters Gwen Ratcliff Truitt and husband Don of Logansport, Tempie Ratcliff Bush and husband Keith of Bossier City, special grandson Tanner and his Mom, Chris Marshall of Missouri, granddaughter Brooke Davis and great granddaughter Lilly, by several nieces and nephews, many loving cousins, and friends. We will all miss her smile and big personality!

Burial followed at Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in DeBerry, TX. The family received friends at Rose-Neath in Mansfield on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 5:00 until 9:00 PM. Jo Ann was born in Mansfield to Wiley and Bessie Parnell Hill and passed away in Shreveport. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Preceding Jo Ann in death were her husband Raymond Lee Wells; parents Wiley and Bessie Parnell Hill; sisters Wilma Calhoun Leach and Joyce Hodgson; and brother Elton Hill.

Funeral services honoring the life of Jack Rascoe, 81, was at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Union Springs Baptist Church in the Union Springs Community with Reverend Francis Smith and Reverend Richard “Dick” Enterkin officiating. Burial followed at the Union Springs Cemetery. Jack was born in Shreveport, LA on December 7, 1933 to Rodney and Kate Rascoe and passed away on June 12, 2015 in converse at his residence with his family by his side. Jack retired after 23 years of service from AT&T in Shreveport as a Section Chief in the Tool Room. Preceding Jack in death were his parents Rodney and Kate Rascoe; infant son; and grandson Jacob Springer. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Betty Jo Rascoe; son Rodney Rascoe and wife Debbie; daughters Jacklyn Springer and husband Oliver, Kay Speights and husband Bill, and Christy Hesser and husband Brian; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and brother Chal Rascoe.

Ed was born June 20, 1941, in RedRiver Parish, LA, and went home tobe with his Lord and Savior on June11, 2015, in Mansfield, LA. He was aloving husband, father, andgrandfather to his wife, children, andgrandchildren. He worked in the construction business for most of his life.He never met a stranger and always offered his help to anyone in need. Heloved to work in his garden planting flowers, fishing and hunting and wasalways outside tinkering around with something. He was also known forpulling pranks and jokes on family and friends, getting a good laugh fromit.
