James “Freddie” Turner

Funeral services celebrating the life of James “Freddie” Turner 67, will be held Friday, March 28 at Benevolent Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport at 1624 Milam St. at 1:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Marie Hunter Jackson Turner, his seven daughters, two sons, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sister and other relatives and friends.

Robert C. “Bob” Meredith

Bob Meredith passed away at the age of 85, on March 15, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation was held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Memorial services were at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Officiating was Rev. Thumper Miller and Rev. Bob Miller. Interment followed at Mansfield Cemetery. Bob was born in Columbia, LA, May 3, 1929. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at LSU and Master’s Degree at Stephen F. Austin. He served in the Army during the Korean War and retired after 37 years in the Army Reserves. He taught school in Desoto Parish,

Interment followed in Chreene Cemetery. She was born in Stanley, Louisiana on October 2, 1938. Doris died March 15, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Desoto Parish. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Mansfield. She loved going to church, visiting with family and friends, and watching the Hallmark channel. She had no children but she always had her cats and they were like her children. One of the things that she could really do well was remember people’s birthdays. His calling was to be a small town physician, where his caring naturecould help others in difficult times.

A memorial service for Harvey Holman Samuels, Jr. was held at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Mansfield, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at two o’clock in Mansfield, LA. Visitation preceded at 12:30. Harvey was born December 19, 1928 in Mansfield to Sara Lillian “Jack and Harvey Holman Samuels. He died peacefully on Tuesday, March 3. Harvey was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Mansfield High School, attended LSU Baton Rouge where he joined Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Centenary College of Louisiana, and graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He worked with his father in the wholesale petroleum business. He was a member of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church where he formerly had served as a vestryman, and of the Mansfield Gold and Country Club. He was also a member of the Mansfield rotary Club and formerly a President of the same. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Sarah “Sally” Wemple, father-in-law Maj. Andrew J.
