Pauline Skinner Turner

After 87 years, PaulineSkinner Turner died early in themorning of March 9th fromcomplications following a heartattack that occurred a few weeksearlier. She spent her lastevening listening to music in thepresence of her family andpassed peacefully. She was a retired RN,graduating from the CharitySchool of Nursing, worked inseveral of the area hospitals, andbrought many new lives into theworld. In addition to herimmediate family she helpedothers as often as she was able,affecting the lives of everyonethat she came into contact with. Pauline was married to JamesDouglas Turner for nearly fortyyears until his passing in 1988.She is survived by four children,a brother and three sisters, ahost of nieces, nephews, andcousins, a few grand and great-grand children, and friends. We will gather at the Bethelcemetery on Bethel road inLogansport, La. to rememberPauline and say our goodbyes at10:30 on March 14th.

He was amember of St. Joseph CatholicChurch in Mansfield.Preceding Lee in death were hisparents, Julius and Ida Houston;sisters, Ruby Houston, EthelMoreno, Palma Procell, GraceGathright and Mattie Taylor;brothers, Jack Houston, BenHouston, Cisco Houston and JohnHouston.Those left behind to cherish hismemory are his wife, JudyHouston; Son Gary Houston;brother, Roy Houston; specialnephew, Larry Procell and wifeSammie; special great niece,Melissa Procell Walker andhusband Steven; and a host of othernieces, nephews and family.Honoring the life of Emmett aspallbearers were Steven Walker,Stephen Jones, Thomas Taylor,Albert Houston, Wayne Morenoand Charlie Houston. Honorary pallbearers were JoeBailey, Roy Houston, Bobby Averittand Eli Sanders.

Gloria Jean Pierce Schmidt

Memorial services for Mrs. Gloria Pierce Schmidt, 84, were held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Broadmoor United Methodist Church where Dr. Greg Davis and Rev. Kathy Wafer officiated. The family welcomed guests for visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment followed on the grounds of Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, LA. Mrs. Schmidt was born October 27, 1930 in Bastrop, LA to the late Willie and Stella M. Pierce. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mansfield until moving to Shreveport and joining Broadmoor United Methodist Church in 2002. Mrs. Schmidt was a graduate of Southeastern University. She was very proud to be the first person in her family to graduate from college. She taught elementary school for 12 years. She retired for good in 1968, when she married Joe Schmidt. Preceding her death were her parents and her husband of 46 years, Joe Bond Schmidt, Jr., who died January 22, 2015. Mrs.

Virginia Goodman Dillard

Virginia Goodman Dillard passed away February 27, 2015 at NMMC Hospice. She was born April 23, 1920 in Iuka, Mississippi to Walter Leigh and Blanche Hill Goodman; she was 94. Services were held at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with Brother Mickey Gentry, Minister of Music/ Senior Adults as minister. Burial followed in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens, with Browning Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Virginia grew up and was educated in Iuka, Mississippi. After graduating high school as Salutatorian in her class, she moved to Tupelo to attend business college. A beauty with an unusually warm and lyrical singing voice who contended in the Miss Mississippi pageant, Virginia sang with a local orchestra at the Hotel Tupelo in her spare time. While in school Virginia met and later married Hayden “Speck” Dillard from Pontotoc, Mississippi. The couple moved to Pontotoc where they lived until their marriage was interrupted by World War II.

Funeral services honoring the life of Wendy Alise Guillotte were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Logansport, LA. Interment followed at Bethel Cemetery in Logansport, LA. Visitation was on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Wendy was born on October 14, 1965 to her parents Douglas and Martha Guillotte. She is preceded in death by her Paternal grandparents, Dan and Lola Guillotte, and Maternal Grandparents Clarence and Ethel Pyle. Wendy is survived by her parents Douglas and Martha Guillotte; sister, Teri Woods and husband Durrett; brother, Kenny Guillotte and wife Ronda; nephew, Christopher Rutherford; nieces, Tiffany Woods, Shelby Woods, Mallory Guillotte and Macy Guillote. Those honoring the life of Wendy Guillotte as pallbearers will be Mark Woods, Tony Pitts, R.L. Cox, Donny Lafitte, Mike Pyle, Jody Roberts and Charles Rutherford.
