Book Club Holds May Meeting

Article Image Alt Text

The Books and Biscuits Book Club held its May meeting at Village Cuisine in Grand Cane. The book for discussion was “The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane” by Lisa See. Discussion Leader, Debbie Carr, provided hot Pur’ere tea for members to enjoy and to set the stage for the story, which was centered around a tribe that cultivated a very special Pur’ere tea in the remote mountains of China during latter part of the 20th Century.

Author See states that the entire story is based on the influence of coincidences and how what seems to be coincidental and without meaning, actually has life changing meaning for the characters. Readers will travel to the remote mountains of China where the culture revolves around strange beliefs and rituals that shape and determine the lives of the people that live and work the Tea plantations.
