Article Image Alt Text

Books and Biscuits Book Club met at the Cook-Hill House in historic Grand Cane Sept. 4. This month’s book selection was “The Rooster Bar” by John Grisham. Edith Herring led the book discussion.

In “The Rooster Bar,” Grisham paints a perverse fairy tale of moral uncertainty starring three “heroes” fighting back against a system that’s unduly burdened them with student loans. Grisham admits to “fast and loose with reality” in the acknowledgements. He cites as inspiration for his legal farce a 2014 expose in “The Atlantic” by Paul Campos titled “The Law-School Scam.”
