Stanley Girls and Boys Basketball Teams faced off against Negreet on Jan. 12. Stanley girls ended up winning their game 69 to 55 while the boys lost theirs, scoring 52 points to Negreet’s 65.

For the girls’ game, Stanley took a small lead in the first quarter, andthey scored 14 points. Negreetscored 11. In the second quarter, Stanley scored 22 points while Negreet scored 17 points. Stanley score 20 points in the third quarter while Negreet only scored 11 points. In the final quarter, Stanley scored 13 points. Negreet scored 16.

Stanley played a district game Jan. 9 against Zwolle. Stanley Girls ended up winning the game by a 9-point lead.

Stanley Girls started the game off strong scoring 19 points in the first quarter. Zwolle scored 11 points. In the second quarter, Stanley scored 16 points while Zwolle scored 15. Stanley scored another 19 points in the third quarter. Zwolle only scored 17 points. In the final quarter, Stanley scored 11 points. Zwolle scored 13 points. The game ended with Stanley winning 65 to 56.

Stanley Girls and Boys Basketball Team played the Starks on Jan. 5. The teams played a close game, but the Starks ended up winning both games.

For the girls’ game, Stanley started out strong and scored 17 points in the first quarter. Starks only scored 13 points. In the second quarter, Stanley scored 10 points while the Starks scored 11. The Starks continued to make a comeback and scored 17 points in the third quarter. Stanley only scored 9 points. Stanley Girls scored 13 points in the final quarter while Starks scored 11. The game ended with the Starks winning 52-49.

Stanley Girls played Choudrant on Friday, Dec. 22 and won 72-56.

In the first quarter, Stanley scored 18 points while Choudrant scored 19. Stanley scored 20 points in the second quarter while Choudrant only scored 12. In the third quarter, Stanley scored another 18 points. Choudrant scored 14 points. Stanley finished the game scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter. Choudrant scored 11 points.

Logansport participated in the Sterlington Tournament last week. For the first game, they played Caldwell Parish. They played against Oak Grove for their second game.

Logansport faced Caldwell Parish on Wednesday. The team played hard and won with a 15-point lead. The game ended with Logansport having 54 points while Caldwell only had 39 points.

Stanley Panthers and Lady Panthers hosted their first "Hoops For Heroes" basketball shootout on Dec. 19. Proceeds from this game were sent directly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from Stanley High School. Stanley, Logansport, Zwolle, Negreet, Summerfield and Ebarb’s Basketball Teams participated.

Stanley Boys took on Ebarb. Ebarb played hard and beat Stanley 67-47.

Stanley Boys started the game off by scoring 6 points in the first quarter. Ebarb scored 15. In the second quarter, Stanley scored 16 points while Ebarb scored 15 points. Stanley scored 13 points in the third quarter. Ebarb scored 17 points. In the final quarter, Stanley scored 12 more points. Ebarb scored an additional 20 points and won the game—67 to 47.

Freshman Will Bagley had a huge night as he lead the Pioneers with a career high of 16 points in a 73-47 victory over the Tallulah Academy Trojans.

Following behind Bagley was senior Macon Murphy with 13 points, junior Drake Holmes with 8 points, junior Adam Campbell and senior John Cunningham with 6.
