Tigers Celebrate Homecoming with 31-12 Win

The Logansport Tigers celebrated their 2018 Homecoming with a 31-12 hard fought win over the visiting Montgomery Tigers. The win improved the Tigers to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in District 3-1A play. This week the Tigers travel to Springhill to take on the Class 3A North Webster Knights. North Webster comes into the game with a 3-2 record. The game was tied at 12 after the first half. Logansport had gained 135 and Montgomery had 119. In the second half of the game the Tiger defense only allowed 39 yards. Meanwhile the Tiger offense gained 250 yards.

Wolverines thrash Gators, 36-6

Mansfield dominated Lakeview last Friday, winning 36-6. Early turnovers and big plays aided the Wolverines as they quickly held a 30-0 lead in the first half and never relented. They improve to 3-2 this season.

Mansfield's defense came up with the big play early, forcing a fumble with 11 minutes remaining in the first quarter. After a 40-yard touchdown run and successful 2-point conversion, the Wolverines were up 8-0.

Artravious Woods completed a 69-yard pass to Jamal Jackson for a touchdown later in the first quarter. Jackson also converted the 2 point try to make it 16-0 Mansfield.

Tigers Open District Play with 40-7 Win

The Logansport Tigers opened District 3-1A play with a 40-7 road win over the Northwood-Lena Gators. The win improved the Tigers to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in District play. Thirty-three Tigers recorded tackles for the defense in the game, led by Devin Gabriel with 18. The starting Tiger offense only ran 8 plays in the game before handing the ball over to the reserves. This week in the annual Homecoming game the Tiger play host to the 3-1 Montgomery Tigers. Game time is 7:00

The Gators received the opening kickoff and were forced to punt after 3 plays. A fumble on the return gave the Gators the ball on the Tiger 30 yard line. On fourth down the Gator back fumbled the ball. Tresmin Brown picked the ball up and raced 78 yards for the opening score.

Wolverines Defeated by Giants

With a series and game ending fumble, the Mansfield Wolverines fell19-16 to the visiting Green Oaks Giants. The Wolverines had a chance in the final minutes, after forcing a safety narrowed the Green Oaks lead to three, but time and the game slipped away in the frantic final seconds.

Mansfield struck first, scoring a touchdown on the opening drive. The opening kickoff was returned to near midfield, and a Brandon Turner carry were the biggest plays of the drive. A failed two point conversion left Mansfield up 6-0 midway through the first quarter.

Griffins Survive a Defensive Battle to Stay Unbeaten

North DeSoto and Many have only been playing each other for three years, but this meeting has quickly become a must see game every season. The Griffins traveled to take on the Tigers. They were looking to avenge their loss from their first trip to Many two years ago. With both teams believing they have a legitimate chance to win state, everyone knew this game was going to be a dog fight.

Tigers Dominate Bearkats in 41-0 Victory

The Logansport Tigers used a dominating performance from their offense and defense in shutting out the Bossier Bearkats 41-0. The Tiger offense rolled up 293 yards with 11 first downs and 34 points in the first half. Meanwhile the defense limited the Bearkats to only 3 yards and no first downs in the opening half. The offense got 3 more touchdown passes form Landon Moon, who has 8 in his first season as the Tigers starting quarterback. This week the Tigers will be on the road again as they travel to Lena to take on the Northwood-Lena Gators in the first District 3-1A game for each tema. Logansport comes into the game with a 3-0 record, while the Gators are 1-2.

Wolverines Fall to Red River

The Wolverines take on Red River at home in week 3 of Friday Night Lights. Mansfield won the coin toss and deferred. #43 Robert Turner kicked off to the bulldogs, and Red River receives at the 14 yard line with a 1st down. The Wolverine defense is able to prevent the bulldogs from making much gain forcing a takeover by the Wolverines at the Red River 49 yard line, after an incomplete long pass attempt, Mansfield is not able to recover to get another 1st down. They kick to Red River with a 1st down at their own 20, but Wolverine defense once again showed us who they are and held the bulldogs.

Tigers Dismantle Gators 44-28

The Logansport Tigers defeated the Lakeview Gators 44-28 in the home opener of the 2018 season. The game was nowhere near as close as the final score. Logansport dominated the game in the first quarter on both offense and defense in racing to a 37-6 lead after the first quarter. The Tiger starters were out of the game in the first quarter. The lead was stretched to 44-6 at halftime. This week the Tigers travel to Bossier to take on the Bossier Bearkats. Gametime is 7:00 Friday night.

Wolverines Defeat Carroll

It was more Friday Night Lights as the Wolverines travel to Carroll High School in Monroe and come home with another victory. Wolverines receive the ball, and open the game with a fumble at the 33 yard line but quickly recover and get an early touchdown with 8:24 left in the quarter. Their two point conversion attempt is successful, bringing the score 8-0 in favor of the Wolverines. The Bulldogs feeling the pressure take a time out with 8:06 remaining. When play continues the Wolverines are unable to make a 1st down and are forced to punt to the Bulldogs, but the Wolverine defense proves to be too much and holds the Bulldogs, from scoring, giving Mansfield control of the ball.

Tigers Race by Jonesboro-Hodge to Open 2018 Season

The Logansport Tigers traveled to Jonesboro this past Friday night to kickoff the 2018 season with a match-up with the Jonesboro- Hodge Tigers. Before the game a LifeCare Helicopter flew the game ball into the stadium and landed at midfield. In a show of sportsmanship, the game ball, which had been signed by the Jonesboro-Hodge football team, was presented to Xavier and Emanuel Simpson in honor of their late brother, Javier Simpson. The Tigers would thank their host by handing them a 41-28 loss to start the season. Logansport used their big play capability to take the win. Offensively the Tigers had 12 plays of over 20 yards. Defensively the Tigers forced Jonesboro into 4 turnovers, 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles.
