Dr. James Mixon Rascoe, 61 of McAlester, Oklahoma died Thursday, March 2, 2017 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born to James Mixon Rascoe, Sr. and Mayme Lollar Rascoe on January 15, 1956 in Mansfield, Louisiana. Dr. Rascoe grew up in Mansfield, Louisiana graduating from Mansfield High School in 1974. He attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA and Panola College in Carthage, Texas. In 1981, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University in New Orleans, LA. In 1989, he received a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. He then attended Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1994 with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medical degree. His Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency was done at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga from 1995-1998. Dr. Rascoe was a member of First Baptist Church in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Mansfield, LA – Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. W. E. “Billy” Young, 79, were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA where Reverend Toby Shaw and Reverend Lynn Mitchell officiated. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 1:00 till 2:00 PM. W. E. “Billy” was born on May 23, 1937 in Benton, LA to Guy and Anna Young and entered into rest on March 3, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. Billy was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Preceding Billy in death were his parents, Guy and Anna Young; four brothers and two sisters.

Casey Alden Stokes, 62, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on March 8, 2017. He was born March 10, 1954 to Dan and Sara Stokes. Casey grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and track, and played in the band. He attended SMU, worked at Western Electric, and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Harvey and Sara Cale Samuels and Daniel and Winona Stokes. Casey is survived by his wife, Sandra, his mother, Sara, sons Casey II, and Jeremy (Brooke), step-daughter Brandi Normandin (Jesse), grandchildren Bailey and Landry Stokes, Zayden, Jesse, Lattrell, and Kei’untre Normandin, sisters Sally Grigsby and Anne Lindsay Minninger (David), Brother Shaw, sister-in-law Linda Migues, mother-in-law Shirley Arnold, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Carol was born in Kittanning, PA on January 15, 1945, the 6th of nine children. After graduating from Kittanning High School in 1962, she moved to Washington, DC where she worked as a secretary for the federal government. In August of 1965 Carol met the love of her life, Robert, who was enlisted in the Army and stationed at nearby Fort Myer, VA. Carol and Robert were married December 19, 1967 and relocated to Logansport, La. Carol thoroughly enjoyed cooking, spending time with her friends and family, and raising their three sons. She was the owner of Kare Bear Day Care and it was there where she spent countless number of hours caring for children. After a sudden illness, Carol went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2017, surrounded by her beloved family.

MANSFIELD, LA – Marjorie passed away February 25, 2017, at Azalea Estates Assisted Living, her home for the past two years. She enjoyed all of her friends there and represented them as Ms. Merry Christmas 2015. Marjorie was born September 30, 1922, in the Lula Community to Buna Bissell Hatcher and William Marshall. Preceding Marjorie in death are her parents, her husband Floyd Hayes, brothers, Henry and Eugene, sisters, Leona and Gladys. She is survived by nieces; nephews; sister-in-law, Clara Hatcher that she loved dearly; and a very special niece she loved as her daughter, Sue Baker. This is a great loss for Sue and her family. Graveside Services were held at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, LA at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, were Bro. Skip Noble presided. The family wishes to thank Bro. Skip for his visits and prayers, Azalea Estates for their care and attention, her “girls” Mia, Latrice and Gwen, and St. Joseph Hospice.

Logansport, LA – Funeral services honoring the life of Harry VonSenden, Jr., 73, were at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA wh ere Rev. Tommy McMellon officiated. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery in Logansport, LA. The family received friends at Rose- Neath Funeral Home on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 6:00 till 9:00 PM. Harry was born on September 6, 1943 in Sinton, TX to Eula and Harry VonSenden, Sr. and entered into rest on February 25, 2017 in Logansport, LA. Harry was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Preceding Harry in death were his parents Eula and Harry VonSenden, Sr.

Deacon Harris James Green (Harry) was born on July 15, 1951 to the late Ms. Lurlean Green. He was second of five boys. Harris accepted Christ and was baptized at Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church at the age of eight years old under the pastorage of the great Rev. G.D. Jackson. Harris served as a faithful member for 52 years where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and Chairman of the Deacon Board over 15 years. Harris loved his church and served in many capacities including grounds keeper. Harris organized the Gospel Clouds and they sung for fifteen years. Harris attended DeSoto Parish School and was a champion baseball player. Harris was married for 41 years to Mary Linda Jones and kept their marriage vows sacred for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, until death did them part. He was a great and wonderful husband and father.

Burial followed at Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, LA. The family received friends at the Spring Ridge Baptist Church on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 5:00 till 10:00 PM. Sarah was born on July 23, 1929 to Samuel and Alice Cooper and entered into rest on February 19, 2017 in Mansfield, LA. Sarah was a loving sister, mother and grandmother. Preceding Sarah in death were her husband, John “Jack” Sims; parents, Samuel and Alice Cooper; sons, J.W. Hammonds, Robert Sims; and grandchildren, Loretta Lynn Hammonds and Jimmy Wayne Sims.

Burial followed at Pollard Cemetery in Mansfield, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5:00 till 9:00 PM. Lester was born on August 27, 1926 in Desoto Parish, LA to George and Annice Barber and entered into rest on February 19, 20174 in Center, TX. Lester was a loving father and grandfather. Preceding Lester in death were his parents, George and Annice Barber. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son Shane Barber and wife Candi of Center, TX; daughter, Lynn Barber; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
