Carl Kelvin “Sully” Sullivan

Funeral services honoring the life of Carl Sullivan, 71, were at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Cornerstone Ministry Cowboy Church in Logansport, LA where Reverend Frankie Mathis officiated. The family received friends at Rose- Neath Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Carl was born on May 18, 1945, in Denham Springs, LA to Clarence and Alice Sullivan and passed away on January 9, 2017 in Mansfield, LA. Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was honorably discharged after serving four years in the United States Air Force. Retiring after 27 years with Cleco, Carl was the owner and operator at Sully Tree Service in Mansfield, LA. Preceding Carl in death were his parents; Clarence and Alice Sullivan; his brothers; Cecil Sullivan and Ricky Sullivan. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Debra K.

Funeral services for Texas Marie Spainhour Perry Broadway, 80, of Grand Cane, LA were held Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in Rockett Funeral Home Chapel, Ringgold, LA. Officiating was Rev. Chuck McInturf and burial followed in Providence Cemetery, Ringgold, LA. Visitation was Monday, January 16, 2017 from 5:00–8:00 P.M. at Rockett Funeral Home, Ringgold, LA. Texas was born June 26, 1936 in Ft. Worth, TX and passed away January 13, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. She graduated from Ringgold High School in 1954 and attended LA Tech University. She grew up in Ringgold, LA where she helped manage the family owned and operated grocery store and wholesale businesses, Cloverleaf Grocery and Wholesale Company. Texas was very active in the Ringgold community for many years. She was a founding member of the Ringgold Women’s Club and owned a dress shop, Texas’ Hangups at one time. Texas often attended Women of Faith and was a Red Hat Society member.

Helen Elizabeth Harris Calhoun

Helen Elizabeth Harris Calhoun died peacefully in her sleep on December 23, 2016. She was born May 20, 1931 in Shreveport, LA, to Jack Edwin Harris and Elizabeth Conly Harris. Helen attended Byrd High School and Louisiana Tech, and married James M. Calhoun on Sept. 2, 1951. She and James moved to Mansfield, LA, in 1952. They were members of First Baptist Church from then until their deaths. Helen taught children’s’ Sunday School and directed children’s’ choirs for many years. She served as church organist for over 40 years. She taught piano lessons, had a ceramic shop at her home, enjoyed Mansfield Garden Club, DeSoto Arts Council, and American Hemerocallis Society. Helen hybridized, named and registered a number of daylily cultivars. James and Helen were in the dairy business, raised beef cattle, and owned Wag-a-Bag convenience stores for 28 years.

Aaron Zane Kirkman (Skooter), 31, of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday December 24, 2016. Born September 25, 1985 to Jonathan Kirkman and Beck Morris. He attended Mansfield High School and got his GED. He worked at Teeco Safety in Shreveport. He loved his boss, Randy Nash, and all his coworkers. He was a loving father, son, friend and fiancée. He cherished life, every moment, he always had a smile on his face. Everyone that knew him, loved him. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his parents, Becky and Randy Morris; his father, Jonathan Kirkman. His son Seth Wayne Owens and his mother Alex Owens. His fiancé Crystal Daniels and her children Jade, Jasmine and Adrian.
