RHONDA SIBLEY HUDSPETH

Rhonda Sibley Hudspeth, 55, of Center, passed from this life to the next, Friday, January 4, 2019, at Christus Highland Medical Clinic with her hand held tight to her husband Ryan’s and her eyes fixed wide on the Glory of her Lord.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Don Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Stanley, Louisiana.

Rhonda was born May 25, 1963, in Mansfield, Louisiana, to James Benton Sibley and Susan Bland Sibley. She grew up in the bustling city of Stanley, Louisiana. If you don’t know where that is, it’s just up the way from the Roberts Road past Stanley High School, where she graduated in the top 17 in her class, which included about 17.

TOMMY “T-MAN” GOFF

Services for Tommy Wayne “T-Man” Goff, 81, of Mansfield, Louisiana will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 AM at Southside Baptist Church in Mansfield. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment will follow services at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield.

Tommy was born in Oil City, Louisiana to Abe and Mabel Goff. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of 56 years; sons Darrell and wife Lori, Troy and wife Jennifer, Jason and wife Angelia; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Tommy worked in the oil field industry in his younger years, then found his niche as a power plant operator which he did for many years. He loved watching the LSU Tigers football team and discussing the game with his sons.

Honoring Tommy as pallbearers will be David Caston, Huey Permenter, Wayne Whatley, Paul Walker, Eston Goff, and Ben Goff. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.

JAMES “JIM” ELKINS, JR.

Funeral services honoring the life of James “Jim” Elkins, Jr., 76, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Rose-Neath Chapel in Logansport, LA with Rev. Dean Register officiating. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery, Logansport, LA. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Jim was born January 16, 1942 in Whiteville, NC. He was preceded in death by baby boy Elkins; his parents, James B. Elkins, Sr. and Ruth Elkins; and sisters, Doris Howard and Edith Fisher.

He is survived by his wife, Gartha Horn Elkins; son, Mark Elkins; daughter, Marilyn McLemore; grandson, Justin Adkinson; granddaughter, Sierra Barlow and husband Charles; sisters, Betty Lane, Peggy White, and especially close members of Garland and Willie Horn families, including a number of nieces and nephews.

RUTH H. JOHNSON

Ruth H. Johnson was born December 18, 1918 in Scottsville near Marshall, Texas. She transitioned into eternity eight days before her 100th Birthday on December 10, 2018.

She was educated in the public school system of Caddo Parish at Central School in Shreveport. She was a diehard Southern University Jaguar. She attended the seventy-fifth homecoming of her alma mater and was honored as one of the oldest alumni. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, the DeSoto Retired Teachers Association, and Friends of the DeSoto Parish Library.

She married the late Charlie Langston Johnson in the early 1940’s. She was one who never let the right hand know what the left hand was doing. It gave her pleasure and joy to remember others with cards, gifts, and other tokens of her affection. She seemed to have spoiled everyone with her lavish outpouring of love.

Stanley, Louisiana

Ruby Lee Temple Ramey, 80, of Stanley, Louisiana, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. She was born April 1, 1938 in Barstow, Texas, to the late Hugh Bryant Lewis and Mamie Turlington Lewis.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Ramey, her son, Terry L. Temple and wife, Vicki of Haughton, LA, her grandsons, Shawn M. Temple and Cody L. Temple, and wife Amanda, and great-grandchildren, Micah, Makena, and Maddox all of Haughton, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Terrell S. Temple, infant son, Tony Temple, sister, Kitty Lewis Chapman, brothers Albert Hugh Lewis and Walter Wayne Lewis.

Funeral services for Luther Max Upchurch, 94, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Pastor Kathy Fitzhugh and Pastor Jessica Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Max was born January 9, 1924 in Hilly, LA and on December 11, 2018, he joined his wife, Mary Ann, in their heavenly home. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Cotton Boll Grill for 48 years and after retirement, worked at Rose-Neath Mansfield. He loved his family, friends, and farm. His pleasure was growing and giving his vegetables away to special friends. He was a member of Grand Cane United Methodist Church.

Gloria was born April 16, 1944 in Pleasant Hill, LA to Selma Lee and Myrtle Ott Allen and entered into rest on December 8, 2018, in Mansfield, LA. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and “Nonnie”.

Preceding Gloria in death were her parents; son Robert Gregory Brumley; brothers, Earlton and Donnie Allen; sister, Carolyn Blankenship; and son-in-law, Jason Burr.

Charles M. English

Charles M English passed away on Tuesday, November 20,

2018. He was surrounded by his wife and children in the comfort of his home.

Charles was native to Mansfield, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1974. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School, USL, and McNeese State University. While in college at USL in Lafayette, he was a 5 year letterman on the USL basketball team. Charles enjoyed sharing many stories of former students, former games, and former coaches. He was the absolute biggest fan of his grandchildren.

Theda was born December 3, 1933 in Fisher, LA to John and Zarah Law Hayes and entered into rest on November 3, 2018. She graduated from University of Southwestern Louisiana and taught for 25 years for the DeSoto Parish schools. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mansfield. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher to many.

Preceding Theda in death were her parents; her husband, E.J. Mitchell; and two brothers, James Hayes and Bobby Hayes.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents; sisters, Jane Bass, Talma Arbuckle; brother, Lewis Guillotte; nieces, Kathy Guillotte Houston, LaJuana Arbuckle Smith, Wendy Guillotte; and nephew, Ronny Lafitte.
