Gene “Jim” Guillotte

Funeral services honoring the life of Gene “Jim” Guillotte, 81, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Logansport, LA with Rev. Nancy Woffard and Bro. Charles Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery in Bethel Community, LA. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Jim was born December 18, 1936 in Goliad, TX to Daniel and Lola Mae Ramsey Guillotte and entered into rest on November 4, 2018, in Logansport, LA.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents; sisters, Jane Bass, Talma Arbuckle; brother, Lewis Guillotte; nieces, Kathy Guillotte Houston, LaJuana Arbuckle Smith, Wendy Guillotte; and nephew, Ronny Lafitte.

Betty Cornett

Betty Cornett, 90, of Russellville, formerly of Mansfield, Louisiana passed away on November 4, 2018, at Russellville Nursing Center.

She was born on May 19, 1928, in Calion, Arkansas to Sydney and Bertha Mae Tarbutton Moore.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Leon Cornett; five sisters and three brothers; and one grandson, Lee Barrett Cornett.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold Cornett Jr. and Paula of Russellville, Arkansas; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Sam Cangelosi of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Katy Bounds, Mary Ann Cangelosi, Ashley Cornett and her fiancé, John Robb, Allison Conder and her husband, Chad; and three greatgrandchildren, Harper Bounds, Cohen Cornett and Blaze Bunch.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at Mansfield Cemetery with Kathy Fitzhugh officiating.

David Gary Canfield

David Gary Canfield, born in Moss Point Mississippi on March 1, 1942, died peacefully at his home in Mansfield LA on October 16, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Gary was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a resident of DeSoto Parish for 38 years, moving his family to Mansfield when International Paper Company established its presence there. He retired from the company in 1997 as Maintenance Superintendent, after working at plants in Moss Point, MS, Texarkana, TX, and Georgetown SC. A quiet man who loved God and his family, he was respected by all who knew him. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mansfield, where he served faithfully in the audiovisual area for a number of years. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Celebration of the life of Elsie Mae Sibley Carter will be held at Word of Truth Church in Many, Louisiana on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. She was born into this world on August 29, 1931, the daughter of Ellis Kirkland Sibley and Bessie Wilson Sibley, and entered into her eternal rest with Jesus on October 20, 2018 at 87 years of age. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 68 years, Jack Carter; her sister Frankie Piscitelli of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Mike Carter and wife Cindy of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter, Carolyn Ricks and husband Hanan of Many, Louisiana; son, Jeffery Carter and wife Lori of Roswell, Georgia; daughter, Ginger Dugas and husband Glenn of Lafayette, Louisiana; Grandchildren, Jacque Ricks Thurman, Jimmy Ricks, Kathy Carter Gibbons, Rev. David Carter, Amanda Carter and Travis Carter; Great-Grandchildren, Ty and Brooke Thurman, Sophie and Carter Gibbons and many loved nieces and nephews.

Dr. Scott Lamar Tatum, Pastor Emeritus of Broadmoor Baptist Church, reached his eternal home in heaven on September 21, 2018. A service celebrating his life and thanking God for his ministry was at Broadmoor Baptist Church Worship Center North at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Officiating was Dr. Wilson Tatum. There were two times for visitation. The first was in the chapel at The Glen on Thursday, September 27th from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The second visitation was in Broadmoor Baptist Church Worship Center North on Saturday, September 29th beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service. Dr. Tatum was born 98 years ago in Converse, Louisiana and grew up in Mansfield. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School, Baylor University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned the Doctor of Theology degree.

Robert Charles Brown Jan. 5, 1947– Sept. 16, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Charles Brown announces his passing on September 16, 2018. Robert Charles Brown was born January 5, 1947 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Ruth Pegues and the late Sylvester Brown. Robert accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Trenton, Louisiana. He graduated high school in 1966 from All Saints in Pelican, Louisiana where he met the love of his life and wife—Olive Glenda Carter Brown. He attended Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana two years prior to being drafted by the United States Army for the Vietnam War. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division of the United States Army during his time in the military. After the war, they moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he worked at Exxon Chemical Plant for many years. Later, he happily retired and moved closer to “home” in Catuna, Louisiana.

Donald Henry Holland May 16, 1935-Sept. 20, 2018

Donald Henry Holland, 83, of Mansfield, Louisiana, passed away on September 20, 2018. He was born in Council Hill, Oklahoma on May 16, 1935, to Pat and Inez Holland. A man of many talents, Donald embraced, enjoyed and exceled at all life has to offer. His adventures are too numerous to mention and his talents were limitless. An Aviation Specialist by trade, Donald was also an underwater welder, race horse jockey and dirt track race car driver. In his down time, Donald loved the great outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing with his friends and loved ones. More than his accomplishments, the man behind them was full of love, laughter, compassion, and support. Donald’s smile, laughter, and joking never failed to light up a room and his ever present positivity was infectious.
