Logansport, LA – Funeral services honoring the life of Rusty Evan Canton, 45, were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Logansport High School in Logansport, LA with Brother Timothy Roberson and Revered Dean Register officiating. Burial followed at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Many, LA. The family received friends at the school for visitation on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Rusty was born October 30, 1973 in Shreveport, LA to Jack Evan Canton Jr. and Judith Gayle Hennigan Canton and entered into rest on May 16, 2019. Rusty was the Fire Chief of Desoto District One and served 21 years for Shreveport Fire Department. He was a hard worker, a loving husband and father, and a mentor to many.

Funeral services for Leonard Wray Valentine were held on May 8, 2019 at the Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Thumper Miller officiating. Family to received friends at the funeral home for visitation on May 7, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

On May 4, 2019, Leonard Wray Valentine went to be with his Heavenly Father after a long illness. He is now at peace with no pain and reunited with his parents and brothers. Leonard was a member of First Baptist Church in Mansfield, Louisiana and served his country in the U.S. Army. Leonard was born on July 7, 1937 in Pelican, Louisiana and was a graduate of Pelican High School, where he was very active in sports which he really excelled in and enjoyed.

Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA.

Bobby was born on August 9, 1934 to William Benjamin Roach and Annie Estelle Tillery Roach and passed away on May 4, 2019. He enjoyed being a Dairy Farmer and did so for 52 years.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and grandsons, A.J. and Jake Swanson. Left to cherish his memories are beloved wife, Sarah Santos Roach; their children, Debbie Stiles (Jerry), Teri Howard (Keith), Tomi Jeanne Brice, Jeff Roach, Liz Roach (Brandon), Denise Jones (Chuck) and Cindy Swanson (Richard); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters.

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, LA. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Maxine was born June 12, 1926 in Lufkin, Texas to Joe Ellis Monsour and Jennie Idell Monsour Duckett and entered into rest on April 29, 2019. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Ellis Monsour and Jennie Idell Monsour Duckett; husband, Charles Joseph “Joe” Binning; sisters, Eva Davies Terry and Anjouil “Ann” David; and brothers, William Monsour, Sr. and Paul Monsour.

KATHERINE ELIZABETH LUNDAY MAGEE

Beth Magee, the daughter of William Baker “Bill” Lunday, a World War I veteran, and Zaidee Mason Lunday, was born in Pelican, Louisiana on June 29, 1922. She was a descendant of a pioneer DeSoto Parish family. Her grandparents Dr. William H. and Anna Hart Mason settled in the Grove Hill community and later moved into Pelican in the late 1800s, after the construction of the railroad. One of Beth’s most vivid memories involved the Louisiana maneuvers in 1941. Hundreds of young soldiers arrived by train in Pelican and shopped at the local stores, much to the delight of the young ladies of the town. Beth often told of meeting Dwight Eisenhower and George Patton at the store run by her father and mother (formerly Dr. Mason’s office). Beth graduated from Pelican High School in 1939. She married James Franklin Magee, a World War II veteran, in 1942. After living in Texas for several years, Beth and Franklin moved back to Pelican with their young daughter Jan in 1960.

Vanessa Woolridge Duplessia, M.D. And Board Certified OBGYN was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on October 5, 1965 to Larnceen and Maattie Wooiridge. She joined the St. James AME Church at an early age. She passed away April 18, 2019.

Family hour will be at Jenkins Funeral Home on 170 Van Buren Street, Mansfield, La on Friday, April 26, 2019,from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral at Mansfield High School gynasium in Mansfield, La at 10:00 a.m. Interment at New Hope Well Cementary in Bernice, LA

Vanessa received her early education in the schools of DeSoto Parish, having graduated from Mansfield High School in 1983. She received her Bachelor Degree from LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, M.D.Degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She did her intern at Tulane University in New Orleans,LA

At the time of her passing , she lived in Plano, Texas. Vanessa was a very successful doctor in Piano, TX.

Mike was born August 12, 1955 in Many, LA to Everette C. Wooley and Helen Brandon of Many, LA and he entered into rest on April 5, 2019. Mike retired after 25 years of employment with General Motors where he enjoyed his job and co-workers.

BARBARA DIANNE HOWELL TOUTCHEQUE

Barbara, 71, was called home to her heavenly savior on March 25, 2019. Her devotion to family and a firm faith in God along with being surrounded by family and friends ultimately gave her peace in her final days. Barbara married her best friend, Donald Lee Toutcheque. They were married for over 55 years. They shared a beautiful life together with strong family values. She protected her family through her prayer and faith in Jesus Christ. She was a spiritual mentor and prayer warrior; especially to her many grandchildren. Her faith overflowed as blessings onto all who met her. She had a servant’s heart. She loved to entertain family and friends in their home for dinner or coffee. Her spirit and smile were radiant and captured the hearts of all who met her. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. One of her favorite past times was participating in Bible study and fellowshipping with other believers.
