DORIS GARNER WILLIAMS GOWAN

Graveside services for Doris Williams Gowan were held at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with longtime family friend, Brother Toby Shaw officiating.

Doris was born on September 6, 1927 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Homer Neal Garner Sr. and Bessie Thomas Garner. She entered into rest on Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garland O’Neal Williams; brother, Homer N. Garner Jr.; sister, Lucille Garner Hughes. She is survived by her children, Wayne Williams and wife Becky of Mansfield, Louisiana, Debbie Porter and husband Alvin of Kingwood, Texas, Linda Presson and Angela Keene of Shreveport, Louisiana; along with 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family request in lieu of flowers that donations are made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1403, Mansfield, Louisiana 71052.

Carol Daniels Cook, 88, of Grand Cane, Louisiana, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, in Grand Cane, Louisiana.

Funeral service were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation an hour prior. Bro. Ron McLellan officiated. Interment followed at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Born April 23, 1933, in Ferriday, Louisiana, Carol is the daughter of Henry Daniels and Ruby Stevens Daniels. She earned her BA in nursing and became an RN. Carol was a dedicate wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included coloring and gardening. A dedicated Christian, Carol was active in her church and other Christian organizations. She was a member of Gloster Baptist Church, where she taught the 4 and 5 year old children’s classes with Hall Burford for many years. After retirement, she and her husband Charles traveled the country doing missionary work.

A private family graveside service honoring the life of Mary Ann Edwards Griffith Wilcox were held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Dr. Greg Davis, pastor of Broadmoor United Methodist in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Mary Ann was born April 5, 1929 in Bruce, Mississippi to Bess and Sam Edwards. She was the youngest of six siblings who preceded her in death. Mary is also preceded in death by her first husband, James Bailey Griffith. As a longtime member of the Grand Cane Methodist Church, Mary Ann enjoyed many years of friendships in her church and within the village of Grand Cane.

Interment followed at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana. Officiating the service was Brother Cory Adcock with graveside assistance from Father John Paul Crispin. The visitation was held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Funeral services for Elaine “T-Mama” Anderson Bierden, 93, of Coushatta, LA were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery. Visitation was held from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gladys Elaine Bierden was born April 1, 1928 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Bernace and Louella Dykes Anderson and entered into rest on May 22, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband John Truly “JT” Bierden, Jr.; sister, Eloise Anderson, brothers, Ray, Burrette and Bobby Anderson and his wife Millie and grandson, Ty Cobbs.

Funeral services for Jean B. Miller were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend David Permenter and Reverend Lee Dickson officiating. The visitation was held on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, Louisiana.

Jean was born on December 7, 1930 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to William and Lucille Brown and entered into rest on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Denison, Texas. She graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1950 and from Louisiana College in 1954, where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a school teacher for 30 years in DeSoto Parish and a Sunday School teacher for most of her life. Her most cherished hobby was spoiling her two grandsons.

Graveside services honoring the life of Rayellen Stacy Dry were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Stanley, Louisiana. Officiating the service was John C. Dry.

Rayellen was born on May 3, 1928, in Dallas, Texas to Thomas Dillard Stacy and Bonnie Raye Batts Stacy. She entered into eternal rest on May 9, 2021, in Zachary, Louisiana. Rayellen was a very accomplished artist, having sold many originals, prints, and commissioned pieces. Her artistry flowed into her cooking also. She was widely known for her culinary skill. She enjoyed making jams and jellies, which she sold while running the family peach orchard. Rayellen was active in attending church and was a choir member for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and the game of Bridge with good friends. She showered love on her family, friends, and acquaintances.

ROBIN CHAMBLESS MCCASLAND CASEY

Robin McCasland made her passage on February 23rd, 2020, three weeks after her 86th birthday. She had been residing in Albuquerque, NM over the prior two years.

Robin’s late parents, Robert Chambless and Gretchen (Gunter) Chambless, brought Robin into this world in a farmhouse birth on February 3rd, 1934, near Oak Grove, West Carroll Parish, Louisiana. She grew up in a rural farming family – and aspired to see the world. Robin graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Education where she met and shortly afterward married Lt William H. (Bill) McCasland, USAF, of Logansport, Louisiana. Robin’s family reared her in the United Methodist Church, she was an active member of the Wesley Foundation at Tech and would remain a committed and contributing member of Methodist congregations for all of her life.

Jerry Jay Blunt, age 72, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021 in the comfort of his own home in Stanley, LA. He was born on December 5, 1948 in Logansport, LA to Lawrence and Pearl Blunt. Growing up, he enjoyed working at his family’s dairy farm with his brothers and sisters. His job as an offshore drilling OIM and Rig Mover allowed him to travel all over the world.
