A funeral service for Josephine “Josie” Forrest, 89, of Mansfield, was held Friday, April 15, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with family and friends receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14. Officiating the service was Bro. Frankie Mathis, pastor of Cornerstone Ministries Cowboy Church. Burial followed at Dill Cemetery in Carmel, LA.

She was born December 20, 1932, in Mansfield, to Heflin and Vera Woods, and passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Mansfield Nursing Center.

Josie was married to the love of her life, Emmett Dalton Forrest, of Coushatta, for 47 years, until his passing in 2000. She was one of the sweetest, kindest, and funniest people you could meet. Her smile could light up the room. She loved her Lord and Savior, her husband, kids, grandkids, greatgrandkids, and family with all her heart and it showed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, Danny Lane Forrest; brother, William Woods; and sisters, Beatrice Calhoun and Ruby “Tut” Binning.

She is survived by her brother, Ruben “Bubba” Woods; sister, Betty Woods Sexton; son, Ricky Forrest and wife, Kathy; daughters, Tammy Overton and husband, Terry; and Adenah Lynch and husband, Larry.

She is also survived by her grandchildren; Charli Richardson and husband, Jared; Daniel Savell; Micah Forrest and wife, Jennifer; Kriston Newsom and husband, Billy; Tara Allee and husband, Richard; Kallie Williamson and husband, Bo; Ryan Migues and wife, Jessica; Zachary Lynch and wife, Laece; Erin Ryder and husband, Jakob; Hannah Wilson and husband, Matthew; Jessica Wilson and husband, Michael; and 20 great-grandchildren: Kaigan Forrest, Brent Richardson, Levi Forrest, Abbie Kate Forrest, Paityn Forrest, Paisley Parks, Ember Parks, Kynleigh Williamson, Kynnedi Williamson, Keaton Migues, Emmett Migues, Stetson Ryder, Jep Ryder, Zade Wilson, Grace Wilson, Ian Wilson, Alice Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Willie Wilson, and Waylon Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Daniel Savell, Micah Forrest, Ryan Migues, Billy Newsom, Jared Richardson, and Jakob Ryder. Honorary pallbearers were Zachary Lynch, Richard Allee, and Bo Williamson.
