Local Family Loses Everything in House Fire

A local family has lost everything in a recent house fire and needs help from the community. Early Thursday morning Joel Salter, Sonya Bell and their three children lost everything they own in a house fire, with the cause yet to be
determined when The Enterprise went to press. They were renting their home and had no insurance on the contents

Mansfield Alive’s Employee of the Year Banquet Slated for Saturday Night

The deadline has been reached for nominations for Employee of the Year, but plans continue for the first annual event, which is hosted by the Mansfield Alive Committee. The new event was launched so employees of the area could be recognized and honored. The banquet is slated for Saturday, August 23 at 7:00 PM, and will be held at the Clista A. Calhoun Center

DeSoto DA Appointed to Board of Directors for Louisiana District Attorney’s Association

Richard Z. Johnson, Jr., District Attorney for Desoto Parish, has recently been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association. District Attorney David W. Burton was elected President of the Association. Burton is District Attorney in the Thirty-sixth Judicial District of Louisiana in Beauregard Parish.

Senator David Vitter Visits Mansfield

U.S. Senator David Vitter, during his visit last Tuesday afternoon in the Clista A. Calhoun Center, was peppered with questions during a visit, which lasted almost an hour. He did mention twice that he would be a candidate for
governor of Louisiana during the next election. It was his swing through the state to hold “town hall meetings”.

Local Sheriffs Elected to Serve as Officers at 2014-15 Board Meeting

Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack has been elected President of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association for the 2014-15 term, succeeding Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso, according to Michael Ranatza,  Executive Director of the LSA. Sheriff Waguespack will lead the Association’s sixty-four chief law enforcement officers and 14,000 deputies.
