Fred’s Super Dollar Presents Donations to Mansfield Schools During Grand Opening Ceremonies

Fred’s Super Dollar presented adonation totaling $2,000 to Mansfield Elementary, Mansfield Middle and Mansfield Highschools during ceremonies on May 29 while celebrating the grand opening of its new store in Mansfield. The check presentations were part of the grand opening ceremonies held this morning at the new 16,000-square-foot Fred’s Super Dollar at400 Washington Avenue.

Robinson’s Rescue Partners withDeSoto Parish Libraries to MakeSpay/Neuter Voucher Application Easier

Robinson’s Rescue has formed a new partner ship with the DeSoto Parish Library to make applying forfree spay and neuter vouchers amore convenient process for DeSotoParish residents. The vouchers are offered through the Subsidized Spayand Neuter Incentive Program(SSNIP), a program supported bythe DeSoto Parish Police Jury.

DeSoto Parish’s Krewe of Demeter, headquartered in Mansfield, will hold a fundraiser on May 29 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A jambalaya plate lunch, complete with bread, dessert and bottled water will be sold for $8.00 each.

The popular chain eatery has moved their location from Washington Avenue to Polk Street, with days and hours of operation remaining unchanged. We welcome their new facility to the DeSoto Parish business community and wish them well.

DeSoto Parish Sheriff Apprehends Suspect with Extensive Criminal History

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle has reported the arrest of a subject following a reckless driver complaint. On May 14,at about 1:22 p.m., a complainant contacted the Sheriff’s Office in reference to a vehicle, which was observed swerving across both lanes of traffic on Highway 171 heading south. Sheriff Arbuckle was en route, along with Clerk of Court Jeremy Evans, to a D.A.R.E. graduation at North DeSoto High School.

Sheriff Arbuckle Announces Winners of LSA Scholarship Awards

On Monday, May 18, DeSoto Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle revealed the winners of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association scholarships for DeSoto Parish. Out of numerous applications submitted by graduating seniors, four students were selected from Logansport, Mansfield and North DeSoto High Schools. The winners are Jasmine N. White of Logansport High School, Irenaissia Kelly of Mansfield High School, Chase Slater of North DeSoto High School and Baylee’ R. Youngblood of Mansfield High School.

DeSoto School System Refinances Bonds; Saves Mansfield Residents $676,100

The DeSoto Parish School System has recently refinanced over$8 million in General Obligation Bonds, resulting in a savings of$676,100 to Mansfield citizens(school taxing District 4). As a resultof the savings, Superintendent Cade Brumley and the District LeadershipTeam have recommended reducingthe property tax rate in District 4 by1.0 mills which should benefit homeand land owners.
