The 153rd Anniversary of the battles of the Red River Campaign, which mark the last major engagements of the Union Army’s ill-fated attempt to capture the Confederate stronghold at Shreveport, will be observed at the actual site that the Battle of Pleasant Hill engagement was fought on, on April 8 and 9. Mansfield Historic Site will host observances a week later, with a Bus Tour of the Battle of Pleasant Hill on April 13, and a walking tour of the Mansfield Battlefield on April 15.
In Mansfield, battlefield tours will be conducted at the park, along with lectures on the Battle of Pleasant Hill on Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 AM. There will also be a presentation on the Battle of Pleasant Hill to be held in the Mansfield Theatre at Mansfield Historic Site at 2:00 PM.
