Mayor Travis Whitfield has announced that the Keachi Heritage Foundation will host their annual Fourth of July celebration complete with fireworks. The public is cordially invited to join area residents at “The Old Plantation Store” at the crossroads of Highways 5, 172 and 789. The celebration will begin at 6:30 PM, with a fireworks show set to start at 9:30 PM.
DeSoto Fire District 1 Chief Rusty Canton and his team of firefighters will be lighting up the skies again this year as they present their annual Fourth of July fireworks show. This year the event has been named to honor the memory of one of their own, who was a very dedicated member of the Fire Department.
The Pink Ribbon Pop Up mobile unit will be in the Walmart parking lot in Mansfield on Tuesday, June 30 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Offerings included at the event are breast health screenings (no cost mammograms), breast health outreach and education, other health screenings and free t-shirts, prizes and gift cards.
The Mansfield Alive Committee will see the fruits of their labors when the weekend rolls around. Debbie Fuller, principal of Mansfield Elementary School was selected as Louisiana’s 2015 National Distinguished Principal. The 2015 celebration marks the 32nd year that the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) has presented this prestigious award.
