5-Foot Snake Killed on Delton Road

Michael Wilson found a 5-foot Diamond Back Rattle Snake on Delton Road. He was doing yard work when he came across it. He killed another big snake in the same spot last summer.

DeSoto Parish’s Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Arrest

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle would like to announce a drug arrest following a traffic stop in Mansfield on May 17, 2017, at approximately3:28 p.m. Deputies with the Directed Patrol Unit were working traffic enforcement in the area of Hilltop Road and Wright Road when they observed a pickup truck that failed to come to a stop at the intersection and failed to signal the turn.

Severe Weather in DeSoto Parish with One Fatality

On Sunday, May 28, 2017, at5:35 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one-vehicle crash on Hudson Darby Road just east of US Highway 171 in DeSotoParish that claimed the life of a Mansfield man.

US 84 Bridges Between Logansport and Joaquin Now Open

On Wednesday, May 24 the westbound lane going thru Logansport and bridge of US 84 was opened up to traffic. The east bound bridge of US 84 was then redirected to go east after having two-way traffic. This process has taking over two years to complete.

River City Fest Carries On Despite Rain

Logansport’s 34th Annual River City Fest did not let a little rain stop the fun. Despite a few delays with music and a few activities, the festival carried on at the banks of the Sabine River in the Dennis Freeman Riverfront Memorial Park May 19-21.

The festival was celebrated with live music, a carnival and a variety of vendors and festival foods. Events included the firework shows, a bean bag toss tournament, a car show, kids’ hula hoop and jump rope contests, a street parade, a treasure hunt, a pet parade, a full church service and a duck derby race.

Community Discusses Future of Technical College With Its Leadership Team

Northwest Louisiana Technical College held a lunch and learn seminar May 18 at DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce to figure out how to increase enrollment on Mansfield’s campus.

The meeting gave the college’s leadership team the opportunity to learn from the community how to better serve their needs in order to keep the college going, while the community received the opportunity to have an open conversation about the future of the college and to share ideas regarding how the college can be more responsive to the needs of this community.

New Advertising Manager Named for Enterprise

Martha Rivers has been named Advertising Manager of the Mansfield Enterprise. She joined the Enterprise staff Monday, May 15. She looks forward to being a team member that will help grow the paper for the community

Rivers has several years of sales experience. She worked at the Shreveport Times for 10 years in circulation and retail. Before coming to the Enterprise, she managed Cache’, which is a dress shop at Mall St. Vincent.

New Editor Named For Enterprise

Raley Pellittieri, a recent graduate of Northwestern State University, has been named Editor of the Mansfield Enterprise. She joined the Enterprise staff onTuesday and is a new resident of DeSoto Parish.

Pellittieri is originally from Ponchatoula where she was Valedictorian of her high school graduation class. She graduated last Friday Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern with a bachelors degree in English with a concentration on Professional writing and a minor in Psychology.
