Martha Rivers has been named Advertising Manager of the Mansfield Enterprise. She joined the Enterprise staff Monday, May 15. She looks forward to being a team member that will help grow the paper for the community

Rivers has several years of sales experience. She worked at the Shreveport Times for 10 years in circulation and retail. Before coming to the Enterprise, she managed Cache’, which is a dress shop at Mall St. Vincent.

The DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Friday, May 12 for the new locally owned T & T Realty

Raley Pellittieri, a recent graduate of Northwestern State University, has been named Editor of the Mansfield Enterprise. She joined the Enterprise staff onTuesday and is a new resident of DeSoto Parish.

Pellittieri is originally from Ponchatoula where she was Valedictorian of her high school graduation class. She graduated last Friday Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern with a bachelors degree in English with a concentration on Professional writing and a minor in Psychology.

Texas Department of Transportation and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development held a Ribbon Cutting for the opening of the US Highway 84 Bridge that connects the towns of Joaquin, Texas and Logansport, Louisiana on Monday, May 8 at 10:30. Immediately following the Ribbon Cutting a celebration was held at the DeSoto Parish Library in Logansport.

The Louisiana Rural Caucus has elected Rep. Larry Bagley of Stonewall to serve as vice-chairman the 67-member group of legislators this year.

Bagley joins Chairman Bernard LeBas of Ville Platte and Rep. Dorothy Sue Hill of Dry Creek, secretary/treasurer, in leadership roles

“The Caucus is important in dealing with the problems the rural areas have,” Bagley said. “The rural part of the state is the predominant amount of acreage we have here and we need to protect that acreage for forestry, farming, oil and gas and other uses that are important to those areas and the state. It’s important for the Rural Caucus to watch these things and influence legislative decisions in the right way.”

Chairman Karla Smith and the 2017 River City Fest committee have announced the event and entertainment line-up for this year’s Fest beginning Friday, May 19 and continuing through Sunday, May 21. The theme of this year’s Fest is Days Gone By. Multiple attractions and a variety of musical genres are scheduled to please all tastes and ages!

On Friday, Frankie Jamison, will kick-off the evening’s festivities entertainment at 6 PM. Joaquin Quick Stop will sponsor the fireworks show, which will be presented by Desoto Fire District 1 at 8 PM.

Those who are attending the event will be able to enjoy games and rides presented by Jim’s Rides of Lake Charles. Jim’s Rides is a big part of the River City Fest’s yearly traditions with the old and young alike enjoying their annual return.

The North DeSoto Lady Griffins competed in the 4A state finals defeating West Ouachita 10-0 for their third consecutive State Champion ship title.

Baton Rouge – Rep. Kenny Cox has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Louisiana Rural Caucus, a 67-member group of legislators that focuses on ruralissues.

Cox, of Natchitoches, was appointed by Chairman BernardLeBas of Ville Platte.
