Voters Elect Evans as DeSoto DA; Burgess re-elected Judge

The November 4 election’s final tally has named Gary Evans as the victor over incumbent Richard Z. Johnson, Jr., with Evans garnering 5,001 votes, or 52.45%, of the vote to Johnson’s 4,534 votes, or 47.55%. Evans,
who was the Chief Deputy District Attorney until July 15 of this year, ran a tough advertising campaign against Johnson, which seemed to pay off for him at the polls.

DeSoto Schools Continue Academic Growth; Outpace Louisiana Average

The DeSoto Parish School System, for the first time since the inception of the state’s new accountability formula, has earned a District Performance Score in the 90s. With an overall growth, DeSoto Schools continue trending upward. Based on results provided by the Louisiana Department of Education, the district's overall performance increased from an 89.3 to a 92.0.

CLECO Enters Agreement to be Acquired by MIRA and bcIMC

On Friday October 17, Cleco Corporation (NYSE: CNL), a public utility holding company and owner of regulated electric utility Cleco Power LLC, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by a group of North American long-term infrastructure investors led by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC), together with John Hancock Financial and other infrastructure investors (collectively, “investor group”). The agreement values Cleco at approximately $4.7 billion, including approximately $1.3 billion of assumed debt.
