The Book and Biscuits Book Club met at the Village Cuisine in Grand Cane on August 4, 2015. Edith Herring did an excellent job of leading a very lively discussion on this month’s selection, Gray Mountain by John Grisham. This author is very well known and has written about a book a year since 1989. In this latest novel, Grisham takes on the serious but generally underreported environmental issue of strip mining, otherwise known as mountaintop removal.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 6 p.m. and the show getting underway at 7 p.m. “Growing up, I heard lots of Elvis (Presley) and Patsy Cline,” said Munds who is from Shreveport. “My dad made sure I knew their music. His mother, my grandmother, Alta Burks was one of Patsy’s backup singers in California. She would also sing Patsy Cline songs on local radio stations. When I would see my grandmother, she would sing Patsy Cline songs to me, so her music is dear to my heart.”
