Books and Biscuits Book Club Hold Festive December Meeting

Books and Biscuits Book Club met at the Cook-Hill Bed and Breakfast in Grand Cane on December 1, 2015. Everyone was in the “spirit” with all their colorful Christmas sweaters and socks; yes, several of the members were decked out in great seasonal stockings. The Cook-Hill House was showing its Christmas spirit, too, as volunteers had done a very nice job of decorating it for our luncheon.

Sassi Sisters Group Present Thanksgiving Bags to Seniors

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for the blessings that we have received throughout the year. It is a time to show your gratitude for the blessings in your life. One way we can do this is to serve others who are less fortunate. The Sassi Sistas with Style begin this holiday season by giving bags to the elderly containing items to prepare a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

The Williamson Museum at Northwestern State University will host the annual American Indian Arts and Crafts Day Saturday, December 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 210 of Kyser Hall on the NSU campus Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

A bridal shower was given in honor of Hannah Gamble, future bride of Allen Touchton, at the Pelican Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Sunday, November 8, 2015. Fun and fellowship was had by all. Hannah is engaged to Allen Touchton of Pelican and they plan to wed in December.

Pelican Library to Host “Get Help With Medicare Open Enrollment – Part D Plans Explained”

The Pelican Branch Library, located at 145 Jackson Street in Pelican, will host a workshop to council and assist those that have questions about Medicare open enrollment and Part D. There is no charge for the counseling.
