Josh Sarpy, a sixth grade student at North DeSoto Middle School, competed at the National Wrestling event on April 5 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He had one thing on his mind, and that was winning. Josh placed 8th at the national level.
Alize’ Elam, a Sophomore at Stanley High School, is in need of the community’s help to attend an International competition that he has been invited to attend. Athletes from all over will gather in Columbus, Ohio on July 8-12, 2014 to participate as they show their talents and skills. Alize’ and the other players will be observed by college coaches and their recruiting teams for possible scholarships.
The Lady Tigers claimed two District 3-1A wins in the past week. On Thursday the Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Tigers of Montgomery. A rough first inning by Tiger pitcher Mallory Guillotte allowed the visitors totake a 2-0 lead
Nine DeSoto Parish 4-H members travelled to Los Paloma Shooting Range in Benton, on Friday, March 21st to compete in the third annual Northwest Louisiana Sporting Clays Shootout sponsored by Caddo, DeSoto, and Red River Parish Farm Bureaus.
On Monday the Logansport Lady Tigers traveled to Jonesville, LA to take on the Block Lady Bears in a District 3 1-A game. Logansport fell to block by a score of 8-6. With the loss Logansport fell to 1-6 in District play. On Thursday the Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Tigers of St Mary’s. St Mary’s earned the 11-3 win to drop Logansport to 1-7 in District play.
With their season just nearing the halfway point the young Griffins have already turned in a remarkable number of record breaking performances. The Lady Griffins have finished in the top three at each meet this season, while the boys have started out with two first place finishes and a second place finish to their credit.
Russell Cecil of Willis, Texas, weighed five bass totaling 15 pounds, 10 ounces Saturday to win the Rayovac FLW Series Texas Division event presented by Frabill on Toledo Bend Reservoir with a three-day total of 15 bass weighing 61 pounds, 9 ounces. For his victory, Cecil earned $33,000 and a new Ranger Z518 with a 200 horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard
