Griffins Knock off Tide with Stellar Defense

Both Minden and North DeSoto came into last Friday’s district 1-4A game running on all offensive cylinders. North DeSoto with 90 points the previous two games and Minden scoring 82 in their 3 district games, but it was both teams’ defenses that proved to be the more effective units for both teams. Fortunately for North DeSoto, theirs was a bit better than Minden’s last Friday. The Griffins were able to force 5 turnovers in the game and ride stellar defensive effort to a 23-0 shutout victory over the unbeaten in 1-4A Minden Crimson Tide.

Logansport Falls 38-19 To Block Bears

The Logansport Tigers traveled to Jonesville this past Friday night to take on the Block Bears. Logansport came out on the wrong side of the score, falling to the home standing Bears 38-19. Logan Spears was able to break his school record for pass completions in a game with 30. With the loss the Tigers drop to4-3 on the season and 1-1 in  district 3-1A competition. This week Logansport will host one of the all time greatest rivals in the St. Mary’s Tigers. This week will also be the annual PINK OUT at LHS. Game time is 7:00, wear your favorite pink and come out and support the Tigers as they try to get back on track.

Wolverines Win with Wild Finish

For the third straight week the Mansfield Wolverines found themselves down double digits in the second half of the game, and for the third straight week the Mansfield Wolverines were able to rally and come away with a victory. The most recent rendition of a comeback came last Friday in front of a large homecoming crowd against district opponent Green Oaks.

Coaches often like to segment the football season into 3 different sections; non-district, district and playoffs. The Mansfield Wolverines began the district portion of their season last week after playing a difficult non-district schedule and coming out with a 2-3 record

Logansport Opens District Play with Win

The Logansport Tigers opened their second season back in District 3-1A; with a commanding 40-21 win over the visiting LaSalle Tigers. Once again Logansport uses a dominating second half to earn the win. For the game the Tigers ran 72 plays and limited LaSalle to 43. The Tigers gained 448 yards and the defense held LaSalle to 195 yards. With the win the tigers improved their record to 4 wins and 2 loses overall and 1 win and 0 loses in District play

North DeSoto Runs Past Huntington

The change at quarterback seems to be working for the Griffins. Last week North DeSoto traveled to Lee Hedges Stadium to play Huntington in the third district game of the year and produced a dominating 49-14 win over the Raiders, their second straight 40 plus point performance, behind the effective running of both Hall’s, Ward, and Rowlins and a physical offensive line

Wolverines Escape with Victory as Tempers Flare

After three straight weeks on the road against 4 and 5A competition, Mansfield was ready to play a game at home for the first time since week 1. Enter the Richwood Rams from Monroe. Richwood came in with the same record as Mansfield (1-3) and a similar style as well, a ground a pound run right at you offense and aggressive defense

Logansport Dismantles Ringgold 40-0

The Logansport Tigers claimed  their third win of the season with a 40-0 shutout of Ringgold. The shutout was the first for Logansport since week 7 of the 2010 season against Sarepta. The game was the final tune-up for the Tigers before they begin District 3-1A competition this week at home against LaSalle

Griffins Win with New Quarterback

After being shutout against Benton, the Griffins made a change to their starting quarterback and moved Delmonte Hall from his running-back/receiver position under center. The result; the highest point total of the season for 
the Griffins, 34 offensive points and a 41-21 win over defending district champions Northwood.

Griffins Lose Defensive Battle

After giving up almost 350 yards of offense to Southwood the North DeSoto defense had a point to prove coming into the district 1-4A opener last Friday on the road against Benton. They were able to prove that point by flying to the football, securing tackles in the open field and holding Benton to 160 yards of total offense and only 50 on the ground
