My Buck and the Best Day of My Life

My buck was a wild deer killed in Pelican, Louisiana. He was the first buck I have personally found and shot. He was shot with a Browning 25-06 caliber rifle. He first appeared at the very end of my lane, 240 years away. When he
finally stopped, there was no point in waiting for me to get still because I was only going to shake harder

MHS Lady Wolverines Earn Bragging Rights in District 1-3A

With Green Oaks bringing the pressure in the fourth quarter, the Mansfield Lady Wolverines turned to the mightiest of mites to get a 49-40 win over the Lady Giants on Saturday afternoon, February 15, in a District 1-3A playoff to set the playoffs. After a three-point play by Jasmine Anderson to open the fourth quarter in the neutral site game at Southwood, Green Oaks  had pulled within 37-35 and appeared it might have the Lady Wolverines on the ropes

SHS Lady Panthers End Regular Play with Perfect 38-0 Season

Friday 2-14-14 capped off a very special season with a 71-62 win over Converse on Senior night. The Lady Panthers improved to 38-0 and are district 3B Champs, earning them a trip to the playoffs. The first round of playoffs will begin Thursday, February 20 at 6:00 PM in Stanley against Centerville, which is located near Morgan City in St. Mary Parish. Coach Cleve Craig stated that he would like to invite everyone in DeSoto Parish out to support the Lady Panthers

Register Your Child Now To Play Spring/Summer Baseball and Softball

DeSoto Athletics (formerly known as DeSoto Dixie Youth) is excited to announce that registration for the Spring 2014 baseball and softball season is now underway and will conclude February 1st. There are many new and exciting things going on with baseball and softball this year, including a new website and moving girls’ softball away from Dixie to ASA (Amateur Softball Association) which offers more opportunity for better development 
for each girl in the program. ASA All Star teams work to advance to the Jr Olympics

DeSoto District Attorney Harvests First Deer

DeSoto Parish District Attorney, Richard Z. Johnson, Jr., harvested his first deer EVER while hunting with Assistant District Attorney, Mike Daniel, on December 18, 2013. The 8- point buck was brought down with .270 Winchester rifle, while hunting on the DeSoto-Caddo Parish line.
