Funeral services honoring the life of Jack Carlton Middleton, 80, were at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral in Mansfield, LA where Reverend Vernon Stephenson, Reverend Benny Alford and Revered Alton Middleton officiated. Burial followed at Ajax Community Cemetery in Ajax, LA. The family received friends at Rose- Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Jack was born in Mansfield, LA to Guy and Lizzie Buckliew Middleton and passed away on January 8, 2016. Preceding Jack in death were his parents Guy and Lizzie Buckliew Middleton and daughter, Jacqueline Joy Middleton.

Charles Perry Strong “Termite”

Charles Perry Strong “Termite” passed away on January 2, 2016 at 10:55 p.m. from cardiac arrest. He was 64 years old. Termite was born on January 13, 1951 to Dr. W.J. and Margaret Strong in Davenport, Iowa. He was the only boy in a family of three sisters, but he sure loved those sisters. His oldest sister, Linda, was the one who nicknamed him Termite because he was so destructive. The name seemed to fit as he grew into adulthood with the destruction of many cars and trucks. The name stuck with him all through life. Termite graduated from Mansfield High School in 1969, and made many life-long friends there. After graduation he stayed in Mansfield, and married Lana Winkler in 1973. They had one child, Kelly, who was the light of his life. Termite is survived by his daughter Kelly Strong of Mansfield; grandchildren T.J.

Zelda “Pinky” Louine Hannigan

Zelda Louine Hannigan, 86, passed away December 28, 2015. Services celebrating her life were held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at San Patricio Baptist Church in Converse, LA. Officiated by Chaplin Vern Stephenson, Rev. Buddy Hankins, and Rev. Dennis Sims. Burial followed in Castle Cemetery in Converse, LA. Zelda was born on February 6, 1929 in Hugh Springs, Texas. She lived her life with a true servant’s heart and never met a stranger. She along with her husband served in prison ministry for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, quilting, crafting of all kinds, and spoiling all of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Elizabeth Arnold and Dennis Harrison Maulden; brother, Robert Maulden; sister, Edna Earl Maulden Huggins and her husband Gore; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Maulden and Bea Andress Maulden. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 67 years, Rev.

Sammie Smith was born October 13, 1976 in Shreveport, LA to Buddy and Billie Ferguson Smith and passed away in Center, TX on December 28, 2015. Those left behind to cherish his memory is his father Buddy Smith; mother Billie Ferguson Smith; daughters, Christian Jade Smith, Dora Hope Smith, Madison Grace Smith; and sister, Staycie Chadwick.

Bobbie was born December 18, 1927 in Glenmora to Benjamin and Wanda Williams and passed away in Mansfield on December 24, 2015. During her life she served as Vice President of Mansfield Bank and Trust. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. One of the highlights of Bobbie’s life was traveling and she had a love for gospel music.

The family received friends at the Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, LA Thursday December 3, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Iris was born in Sabine Parish, LA on August 27, 1914 to Jonah and Lizzy Weeks and passed away on December 1, 2015 at DeSoto Regional Hospital, in Mansfield, LA. Preceding Iris in death were her parents Jonah and Lizzy Jones Weeks, husband, R.C. McPhearson; Sons, Rickey Lynn McPhearson, Clyde McPhearson, Paul Dean McPhearson and 5 Siblings.

Dale Louis Pea

Homegoing celebration for Dale Louis Pea was held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pisgah Missionary B.C. in Dallas, TX where Rev. Robert L. Murphy is the Pastor. Dale Louis Pea was born on May 7, 1948 to Esther Lee Murray and Alphonse Pea Sr. He was the fourth of five children. Dale accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Moore’s Chapel B.C. in South Mansfield, LA. He grew up in South Mansfield, attended public school and graduated from DeSoto High School in 1967. He received a football scholarship and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Dale was joined in Holy Matrimony to Cheryl Barnett in 1968 and to this union two children were born, Kymberly Pea and Roderick Pea. He moved to Dallas, TX and united with Mt. Pisgah Missionary B.C. under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Murphy. Dale departed this life on Friday, November 27, 2015. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Alphonse Pea Jr., and his daughter, Kymberly Pea.

Sue Lynn Jones Myers, 77, of Mansfield, LA went to be with her Blessed Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, December 3, 2015. Celebration of her life began with a visitation at Rose-Neath Funeral Home,  Mansfield, LA on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 5:00pm till 9:00 pm. Final services began Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00 am at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, LA. Interment followed at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, LA. Sue was born May 20, 1938 in Converse, LA. She grew up in Sabine Parish and lived most of her life in Mansfield. She had a ready smile and an outgoing, loving spirit that radiated God’s love to all she encountered. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pearl Jones of Noble, LA and brother-in-law, Jerry Callens of Lincoln, TX.

Michaek Brett Cobb

Michael Brett Cobb (Mike) of Mansfield died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 of complications arising from his lifelong battle with diabetes. He was preceded in death by his parents Thurman and Frances Shadoin Cobb, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include two uncles, one aunt, and numerous cousins and friends. Graveside services were conducted by Revered Joe Waggoner at Springridge Cemetery, Pleasant Hill. The family wishes to thanks all Mike’s caregivers at DeSoto Retirement and Rehabilitation for their excellent care. Memories should be made to the charity of choice.

Roy "T" Franklin

Roy "T" Franklin was born to Willie and Eula Bell Franklin on February 24, 1935. He spent his childhood years growing up in Mansfield, Louisiana. The oldest of 4 children, Roy learned early in his life responsibility, a strong work ethic, and the importance of God in his life. Roy dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Corinth Baptist Church, and is a proud member of the DeSoto Parish Training School class of 1954 in Mansfield, Louisiana. Following school, he joined the United States Navy and served his country honorably for over 20 years. During his service he received many commendations and decorations for his campaigns in Beirut and Vietnam. He was involved in early training and recruitment. He served at duty stations and on various naval vessels in Michigan, Virginia, Japan, New Mexico, and California. After his retirement from the military in 1976, Roy entered civil service until his final retirement in 1995.
