Nola Davis Canfield

Nola Davis Canfield went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2015. Nola was a resident of Jackson County, MS for 56 years and DeSoto Parish, LA for 19 years. She was proceeded in death by her  husband of 40 years Carl Edward Canfield; two brothers Dearborn Athens Davis, Theo Thomas Davis, and two sisters Adeliea Davis Dearing and Mytrier Davis Vice.  Nola was of the Methodist faith and a homemaker. She loved working in her yard and fishing.She moved from Jackson County, MS to DeSoto Parish, LA in 1996 to be near her only son David Gary She is survived by son David Gary and wife Carole of Mansfield LA; two grandsons Stephen Canfield and wife April of Starkville, MS and Jonathan

David Lee Rambin

David Lee Rambin, 65, passed away April 13, 2015 in Shreveport, Louisiana, with his family at his side. David lived in Galveston, Texas, and was the owner of David’s Island  Landscapes. He was born and raisedin Rambin, Louisiana. He graduated from Pelican High School and Northwestern State University. In his years spent working at Odeco  Oil Company, he traveled the world including Alaska, Iran, Rome, Greece and throughout Europe. Helived in many places including New York, Atlantic City, Key West and New Orleans, but he called Galveston home for the last 30 years. He loved Galveston and was heavily involved in the community  including serving as Volunteer Chairman for the Emergency
Department program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, the Hospital Auxiliary Board of Directors , International Oleander Society and Chairman of East End Historic District Association House and Grounds Committee .

James “Freddie” Turner

Funeral services celebrating the life of James “Freddie” Turner 67, will be held Friday, March 28 at Benevolent Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport at 1624 Milam St. at 1:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Marie Hunter Jackson Turner, his seven daughters, two sons, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sister and other relatives and friends.

Robert C. “Bob” Meredith

Bob Meredith passed away at the age of 85, on March 15, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation was held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Memorial services were at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Officiating was Rev. Thumper Miller and Rev. Bob Miller. Interment followed at Mansfield Cemetery. Bob was born in Columbia, LA, May 3, 1929. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at LSU and Master’s Degree at Stephen F. Funeral services celebrating thevlife of Doris Cordova 76, were held at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Logansport, LA. Brother Mike McConnaughey officiated. Interment followed in Chreene Cemetery. She was born in Stanley, Louisiana on October 2, 1938. Doris died March 15, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Desoto Parish. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Mansfield. She loved going to church, visiting with family and friends, and watching the Hallmark channel. She had no children but she always had her cats and they were like her children. One of the things that she could really do well was remember people’s birthdays. We always called her when we needed to know one of the family’s birthdate. The Bible was her book of choice. She read it every day. She
