Funeral services celebrating thevlife of Doris Cordova 76, were held at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Logansport, LA. Brother Mike McConnaughey officiated. Interment followed in Chreene Cemetery. She was born in Stanley, Louisiana on October 2, 1938. Doris died March 15, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Desoto Parish. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Mansfield. She loved going to church, visiting with family and friends, and watching the Hallmark channel. She had no children but she always had her cats and they were like her children. One of the things that she could really do well was remember people’s birthdays. We always called her when we needed to know one of the family’s birthdate. The Bible was her book of choice. She read it every day. She

Hepassed away suddenly on Saturday,March 14, 2015, in Mansfield, LA atDeSoto Regional Health Systems.Leigh graduated from PontotocHigh School in 1965. He lettered infootball and baseball all four years, basketball for 3 years, and track. Heserved on Student Council as vice-president, Beta Club, Quill andScroll, and Glee Club. His calling was to be a small town physician, where his caring naturecould help others in difficult times.

A memorial service for Harvey Holman Samuels, Jr. was held at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Mansfield, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at two o’clock in Mansfield, LA. Visitation preceded at 12:30. Harvey was born December 19, 1928 in Mansfield to Sara Lillian “Jack and Harvey Holman Samuels. He died peacefully on Tuesday, March 3. Harvey was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Mansfield High School, attended LSU Baton Rouge where he joined Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Centenary College of Louisiana, and graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He worked with his father in the wholesale petroleum business. He was a member of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church where he formerly had served as a vestryman, and of the Mansfield Gold and Country Club. He was also a member of the Mansfield rotary Club and formerly a President of the same. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Sarah “Sally” Wemple, father-in-law Maj. Andrew J.

Pauline Skinner Turner

After 87 years, PaulineSkinner Turner died early in themorning of March 9th fromcomplications following a heartattack that occurred a few weeksearlier. She spent her lastevening listening to music in thepresence of her family andpassed peacefully. She was a retired RN,graduating from the CharitySchool of Nursing, worked inseveral of the area hospitals, andbrought many new lives into theworld. In addition to herimmediate family she helpedothers as often as she was able,affecting the lives of everyonethat she came into contact with. Pauline was married to JamesDouglas Turner for nearly fortyyears until his passing in 1988.She is survived by four children,a brother and three sisters, ahost of nieces, nephews, andcousins, a few grand and great-grand children, and friends. We will gather at the Bethelcemetery on Bethel road inLogansport, La. to rememberPauline and say our goodbyes at10:30 on March 14th.
