Bernice Williams

June 12, 1925-Jan. 26, 2018 Funeral services honoring the life of Bernice Williams, 92, will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, LA with Reverend Beth Sentell officiating. Burial will follow at Rockdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rose- Neath Funeral Home on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2 pm until service time. Bernice was born on June 12, 1925 to James and Eula Ross and entered into rest on January 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her two children, Silas Jefferson “Jeff” Freeman; her second husband, G.R. Williams; her parents; her sisters, Evelyn Ross, Katherine Derrick, Alma Edwards, Mable Ross; and her brothers, E.C. Ross, Cecil “Doc” Ross, William “Bill” Ross.

Ouida Lowe

Dec. 31, 1918-Jan. 17, 2018 Funeral services for Ouida Lowe will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Rose- Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA. Burial will follow at O.E. Price Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12pm till time of service at the chapel. Ouida Tyler Lowe was born on December 31, 1918 to the late Jessie Spears Dick Stovall and Joe Stovall in the Hunter Community near Logansport, Louisiana and died on January 17, 2018 at age 99 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Henderson, Texas. She was survived by her two daughters, Jean Whiddon of Hideaway, Texas and Gail Jones and husband Donald of Tatum, Texas.

Alfred Lloyd Sharrow

Feb. 25, 1941-Jan. 20, 2018 Alfred Lloyd Sharrow went to the Lord on January 20, 2018 at the age of 76. He was born on February 25, 1941 at Moriah, NY. Alfred was a 1960 graduate of Willsboro Central School, NY. Alfred married Hazel Jenney on May 18, 1997 at Rock Chapel, Mansfield, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Norma Sharrow; siblings, Ruth Sharrow Duboin, David Sharrow, Rolland Sharrow, Harold Sharrow and Raymond Sharrow, Sr.; granddaughter, Kaitlin Morris and great grandchild, Jackson Duke. Alfred is survived by his wife of 21 years, Hazel Sharrow; brothers, Charles Sharrow, Jr.

Jarrell O. Burch

Sept. 2, 1934-Jan. 2, 2018 MANSFIELD, LA--Funeral services honoring the life of Jarrell O. Burch, 83, were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Stanley High School Gymnasium in Stanley, LA with Bro. Tommy McMellon officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Stanley, LA. The family will received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 5pm till 8pm. Jarrell was born on September 2, 1934 to Lonnie and Martha Liles Burch and entered into rest on January 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Janell Johnston Sowell; and his seven siblings. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and uncle. He was employed with Southern Bell for 18 years as a telephone service man. He was also a Policy Jury Man in DeSoto Parish for many, many years with countless contributions to the people of DeSoto Parish. He had several businesses in his life time.

Bonnie Sue Smith Hargis Nov. 13, 1953-Jan. 10, 2018 Mansfield, LA

Bonnie was born November 13, 1953 in Converse to Ethel R. and William J.B. Smith. Her long battle with heart and kidney disease came to a peaceful end on January 10, 2018. As she requested, her body has been donated to science. A “celebration of life” will be held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Shane and Bryant Calhoun, on Saturday, February 3, 2018, form 2 until 4. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery fund, 369 Nash Road, Logansport.

Ms. Gracie C. English June 19, 1952-Jan. 10, 2018 Homer, LA

Gracie was born on Thursday, June 19, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Ralph & Millie Colson. She attended North Shore High School, where she was a proud member of the Scarlets Drill Team. Following high school, she attended nursing school, married the love of her life, and started a family. Being a wife, mom, mamma, and nurse were her greatest accomplishments in her own eyes. She deeply loved her God, her family, her pets, her friends, and each patient she ever cared for. Gracie was a breast cancer survivor, and became actively involved in the Relay for Life in Claiborne Parish. In November, 2015 she began a battle with stage 4 cancer. She endured surgeries, multiple procedures, treatments, and was in & out of remission before going to heaven on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Living her life to the fullest until the end, though her body was worn she never lost her fighting spirit. Her faith in God was never stronger than when she was ill.

Burial followed at Mt. Heights Cemetery in Mansfield, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 5pm till 8pm. Mr. Ford was born on August 22, 1924 to Robert and Arizona Ford and entered into rest on January 9, 2018.

Mr. John Smith Tatum April 3, 1931-Dec. 21, 2017

SARDIS COMMUNITY, LA-- Funeral services honoring the life of John Tatum, 86, were held December 23, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church in Mansfield, LA with Reverend David Permenter officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery in Converse, LA. John was born on April 3, 1931 to C.W. and Sally Tatum and entered into rest on December 21, 2017. He was hard-working and faithful to his wife, children, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. John was born and raised in the Sardis Community. Honest hard-work and determination were part of his large family of 3 boys and 5 girls. These traits were the very core of the man John Tatum became. Upon finishing high school, John served in the Air Force for 8 years as an aircraft mechanic. Once he served his country, John moved his family back to the Sardis Community to own and operate dairy farm for several years.

Carolyn Moran Beaubouef Funeral services for Carolyn Beaubouef, 88, were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:00 am with Rev. David Daniel officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Frierson, Louisiana. Visitation was held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6pm till 8 pm. Carolyn Eloise Moran Beaubouef was born November 17, 1929 and passed into glory on January 1, 2018. Carolyn was raised in Kingston, Louisiana, after her family moved back home from Illinois in 1939. Carolyn attended Stonewall High School and LSU, majoring in costume design, at the strong urging of her parents. Missing her precious cattle back home in Kingston and knowing her God given gifts with animals, she persuaded her parents to allow her to change her major to Animal Industry. She was the only female in the program at LSU at the time.

Curtis Shaw, Jr.

Curtis Shaw, Jr. passed away on the 30th day of December 2017 at the age of 66. Services were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana on January 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM, with visitation January 2, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM in the chapel. Rev. Jerry England of Jonestown Baptist Church in Jonestown, Texas officiated. Burial followed at the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, La. Mr. Shaw was born September 13, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Curtis Shaw Sr. & Carmen “Susie” Shaw. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his mother Carmen “Susie” Shaw, He is survived by his father Curtis Shaw Sr., His former wife of 31 years Frances Shaw Lowe of Mansfield, son, Jesse Shaw of Grand Cane, La, daughter Monica Shaw Holloway and husband Timothy of Mansfield, La. Seven Grandchildren Shaina, Levi, Brooke, & Gabriel Holloway & Kaylyn, Eli & Saya Shaw of Grand Cane, La. Some called him Curtis, some called him Tinker, and we just called him daddy.
