EUGENIA TRACHTA MANNING

Eugenia Trachta Manning died early Friday morning, March 18, 2022. She died only 10 days before her 99th birthday. Eugenia was born on March 28, 1923 in Legerwood, North Dakota to Herman and Henrietta Trachta. She died in Mansfield, Louisiana where she was a resident since 1945.

A Rosary and all services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mansfield on Wednesday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m., followed by visitation with the family from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., and the funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow immediately at Carmel Cemetery in Carmel. A reception will be held at St. Joseph’s Fellowship Hall in Mansfield following the burial.

Eugenia was preceded in death by her mother and father, daughter Carol Ann, and grandson Luke Manning.

KIM BRUMMERLOH KENDRICK

Kim Brummerloh Kendrick, age 56, passed away at her home in Carthage, Texas after a brief illness. Funeral services and visitation were held at Roseneath Funeral Home in Mansfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2022 with the burial held immediately following at O. E. Price Memorial Cemetery in Logansport. Rev. Dean

Register, pastor of Keachi, Longstreet and Shiloh Methodist Churches, presided over the services. Her brother, Scottie Dale Brummerloh, preceded her in death.

Kim was born on August 25, 1966 in Shreveport to Sherry Sue Glover and Ronald Edwin Brummerloh. She attended Stanley High School and enjoyed being a homemaker and stay at home mom with her children and her dogs. Her past times included playing with her grandchildren, outdoor activities, chatting on social media, and cooking.

HOLLIS POWELL HOLMES

Hollis Powell Holmes, 81, of Logansport, LA, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2022, in Shreveport, LA. He was born on June 17, 1940, in Logansport to the late Paul Fullilove and Ellen Cleo Powell Holmes. Mr. Holmes grew up going to Longstreet schools and he, along with twin brother Wallace, worked as dairymen helping their father take care of the family farm. He married the love of his life, Sybil Geraldine Yount, on June 8, 1962, at Panola Baptist Churc h. They began operating a dairy barn in the 60’s and would have been married 60 years in June. In his younger years, he hauled steel by 18-wheeler for the construction of what is now the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Mr. Holmes lived his lifetime in the Logansport area, where he served as constable for 25 years, was of the Methodist faith, and attended the First Baptist Church. SARA LILLIAN SAMUELS STOKES

Sara Lillian Samuels Stokes was born August 7, 1924, in Mansfield, Louisiana to Harvey and Sara Cale (Jack) Samuels, and passed away on March 3, 2022.

Sara graduated from Mansfield High School in 1941 and from Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia in 1945, where she majored in Speech and Drama.

Except for those college years, Sara was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and a devoted member of First Methodist Church in Mansfield. She taught school at Mansfield Elementary and at Central School in Grand Cane, and also worked for many years at the DeSoto Parish Library. She especially enjoyed researching and writing, “Gleanings”, a popular column in The Mansfield Enterprise that looked back at what was happening in DeSoto Parish 50 and 75 years ago.

Vance Reed Shaver, 87, of Mansfield, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on March 11, 2022.

Graveside services honoring the life of Vance were held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating the service was Rev. Toby Shaw.

Vance was born on November 28, 1934, in East Point, Louisiana to Newton Lindel Shaver and Ola Mae Morgan Shaver.

Vance was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Ola Shaver; his wife, Lajuana Shaver; and his brother, Harold Shaver. Left behind to cherish his memory include his son, Lee Shaver and wife Kimberly; and granddaughter, Allison Shaver.

Honoring Vance as pallbearers were Otis Calhoun, Buddy Hesser, Steve Shaver, Lonnie Desoto, Paul Reed, and Mike Curry.

A memorial service honoring the life of Mr. Glenn Wilson Robbins, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Henrietta Congregational Methodist Church in Converse, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Chucky Clark. The service will be open to any friends or family members to speak.

Glenn was born to Ocie Wilson Robbins and Kathlene Emma Welborn on October 15th, 1942 in Mansfield, Louisiana and entered into eternal rest on March 4th, 2022 in Mansfield, Louisiana. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A visitation honoring Millie’s life was held Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Homer, Louisiana at 11:00 A.M.

Millie was born to Clarence Loys Batton and Beulah Mildred Taylor on November 12, 1936, in Homer, Louisiana, and entered into rest the night of February 25, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Mack was born on February 4, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Mack Wellman Bankson and Agnes Bice Bankson and passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

A graveside service honoring the life of Mrs. Carolyn “Gina” Nelson, 58, of Benson, LA was held at 2:30 P.M. on March 8, 2022, at Old Union Cemetery in Benson, LA with Bro. Jimmy Price officiating.

Carolyn was better known as Gina to all her friends and family. Gina was born on January 1, 1964, to Jack Jr. and Joann Fisher. Gina passed away at home in Benson on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Gina is preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbie Jo Nelson, and her mother, Joann Fisher. She is survived by her husband, Ben Nelson, of 39 years, her son Jackson Nelson and fiancé, Ariel Welch of Pleasant Hill, LA, her dad, Jack Fisher, Jr., her sister, Patsy Diane McCune, and her husband, Barry, her granddaughter, Ava Marie, her grandson, Ryder James, and a host of family and friends.

Gina battled with Parkinson’s’ Disease for the last twelve years. She was a very kind soul and was loved by many.

Barbara Ellen DeBose Estess was born January 17, 1929 in Many and passed away February 24, 2022 in Hammond, LA. She was interred at a gravesite service Friday, March 4, 2022, 1:00 pm at Centuries Memorial, Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Raised in Many, Louisiana, she was the daughter of James Thomas DeBose and Gladys Hopkins DeBose.

She graduated from Many High School and in 1946, graduated from Elliott Business School in Beaumont, Texas. She worked as a secretary for the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service in Many before she married the love of her life, Delbert Estess. They lived most of their lives in Shreveport, Louisiana. Beginning in 1971, she worked as a secretary at Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport for several years.
