42nd Judicial District Judges Sworn-in for New Terms

On Monday, December 29, Judge Robert E. Burgess and Judge Charles B. Adams took the Oaths of Office for their re-elected posts. The two judges swore the other one  in consecutively. Judge Adams will once again serve as District Judge for the 42nd Judicial District – Division B. Adams, who ran unopposed, began his fourth term on January 1, 2015

Community Bank of Louisiana recently held an Open Hous and Grand Opening at its new office in Stonewall. The Open House took place on Sunday, December 28th at 1:00 p.m. President William E. Dorroh invited customers, friends and the public to view the new, two story structure located at 1067 Highway 171.

SWEPCO Customers Benefit from Conclusion of Valley Electric Merger; Lower Rates Expected

SWEPCO customers will see lower rates and improved reliability of electric service over the next two years thanks to an agreement reached with the Public Service Commission Wednesday. The agreement is based on termination of one of the last major elements of the 2010 SWEPCO purchase of Valley Electric Membership Cooperative, previously based in Natchitoches.

“Under the Tree” 2014 Toy Drive Deemed a Success

Under the Tree 2014 is now completed. Toys, along with other items including clothes, shoes and food were distributed on Wednesday, December 17th. The toy boxes were picked up on Monday December 15th from the
local businesses that allowed us to use them as drop off points. This included: DeSoto EMS, DeSoto District Attorney, Carter Federal Credit Union, Dianne Boyt Insurance, Dr. Michael Huff, Mansfield Elementary School, Great
Wall Restaurant, State Farm-Mindy Runge, Charlie’s Café 171, Citizens National Bank, DeSoto Parish Sheriff office, Progressive National Bank, Billy B’s Café, Shell Oil Co. and CLECO power plant
