DPPJ Voices Concerns Between E-911, DeSoto EMS and DPSD

DeSoto Parish Police Jury President Ernel Jones opened an assembly that was held in the Jury’s boardroom on Monday, February 8, by stating that the meeting was not being held to bash E-911, EMS or the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s office, but to try to come together and coexist. President Jones stated that it was time for all parties to come together and work together, which is what the citizens of DeSoto Parish expect and deserve.

Logansport Chamber Welcomes DeSoto Regional Eye Institute

On Wednesday, February 10, the members of the Logansport Chamber of Commerce joined local officials and citizens to welcome DeSoto Regional Eye Institute and Surgery Center as the newest member of the business community. A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official opening, with those in attendance then able to tour the state of the art facility.

Sen. Milkovich Encourages Constituents to Write Letters to Joint Highway Committee Regarding LA Highway 5

In the latter part of January, a hearing was held before the State Joint Transportation Highway and Public Works Committee of the Louisiana House and Senate to determine which state highways should receive priority highway reconstruction and repair. Senator John Milkovich testified before the committee concerning the need to repair Highway 5 in DeSoto Parish, with officials from the Department of Transportation and Development in attendance.

Larry Bagley Takes Oath as State Representative for District 7

DeSoto Parish native, Lawrence “Larry” Bagley, is officially the State Representative for District 7 after taking the Oath of Office in January. Bagley, who resides in Logansport, has been involved in education for the last 44 years until his retirement. Much of that time he served in the capacities of coach and in administration.
