Ground breaking ceremonies will be held in Logansport on Friday, January 10, at 11:00 AM to commemorate the start of the US Hwy 84 corridor and bridge replacement between Texas and Louisiana. According to Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Information Officer Susan Stafford, construction was slated to begin on January 6, with the restart of the corridor’s clearance. It was during the Spring of 2012 that Logansport first saw the demolition of the popular JJ’s Fast Track convenience store, the original Dairy Queen and Family Dollar Store, with the later two relocating and building new buildings. Right across the Sabine River, Haslam also lost two popular eateries, Haslam Café and Pizza Time, with the pizza parlor moving into the Joaquin city limits, and the café remaining closed.
