Judge Scott J. Crichton Selected to Speak at DeSoto Law Day Event

Public officials and the general public to join them as they celebrate Annual Law Day at the DeSoto Parish Courthouse, located at 101 Texas Street in Mansfield. Guest speaker for the event will be the Honorable Scott J. Crichton, Judge of the First Judicial District Court in Caddo Parish.

Ringing of the Bells Ceremony Honors of 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Mansfield

Local historians Martha Bedsole, Raymond Powell and Van Reech are pictured ringing the bell at the Old Log Courthouse at 3:00 PM on April 8. Bells all over the Mansfield area were scheduled to ring remembering the soldiers that gave the ultimate sacrifice 150 years ago, on both sides, during the American Civil War

Construction Progressing on Sabine River Bridge Hwy 84 Project

The construction project to replace the U.S. 84 Sabine River Bridge at the Texas/Louisiana state line continues with little to no impact to the traveling public at this time. Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Spokesman Kathi White said, “For the safety of themselves and workers, motorists are reminded to use caution when driving through the work zone.”

DeSoto Parish Schools Selected for National Budgeting Pilot

Recently, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) selected the DeSoto Parish School Board for participation in GFOA’s PK-12 Budgeting Best Practices Pilot Project  “We are continuously looking for ways to improve our operations and are thrilled GFOA selected us for  this honor,” said Dr. Cade Brumley, Superintendent.

Short topic speakers included Todd Eppler, Chairman of DeSoto Regional Medical Systems, Beverly Joseph with the Louisiana Workforce Commission and Donna Curtis, Executive Director of Shreveport Green.
